Diablo 3 - How To Augment Ancient Items

Ok, let me help people out who got nothing out of the video: 1. Level up a legendary gem in GR. Use one that you DO NOT need the gem's powers for in your build. 2. The powers of the legendary gem do not matter; only the LEVEL does. 3. The level of the legendary multiplies the primary points by five. (Ex: a 100 level legendary gem plus rubies gives 500 strength points.) 4. You will need three Flawless Royal Gems with the primary stat you need (i.e.: rubies for strength) 5. Open Kanai's Cube 6. Select "Augment Ancient Item" 7. Choose the ancient item you want to augment. It cannot be equipped when you augment, so temporarily switch it out. 8. Choose the legendary gem you want to use. 9. Choose the flawless royal gems you want to use. 10 Transmute the item Notes: -All gems used will be destroyed and cannot be reused. You can augment the item again, but it is NOT additive. In other words, if you used a level 50 legendary the first augment, but now want to use a 100 level, you will need to level up a new legendary to 100 along with creating three flawless royals. Using another 50 level gem will NOT bring it up to 100. -You WILL receive another version of the legendary gem you destroyed (to augment the ancient) in a GR. -You can add different main stats from those your character uses (i.e.- three topaz will give intelligence to a barbarian piece, etc.) -TIP: Only augment pieces you use the most first, so the stats will have the most use. For instance, a primal set piece that you use across multiple sets in your armory will be much more useful than augmenting a ring you only use in one.

Imagine that you're a newb and/or took a REALLY long break from the game or even never played high end content. You know nothing about augmentation at all, and so you really need to know everything. When you find out what it does, one of the first questions you might ask is, "does it destroy the legendary gem?" and followed by, "If so...how do I get another one? Can I get another one?" None of these questions were answered and it probably would have been a good idea to mention them. What happens to the gem and how you obtain another one is important. Especially if you assume it won't get destroyed and you use a gem you kind of need. Or...does it matter what legendary gem you use? Is it only determined by what color gem you put in there with the legendary gem? That's what I was hoping to find out honestly. If someone can answer those questions, I would greatly appreciate it! And nice video either way, it is definitely very useful. Don't want you to think I'm saying it's worthless, because it's absolutely not. Thanks for taking the time to make it!

Yes the gem is destroyed. Another one will drop when you do a new GR. You gain stat boost based on regular gem type (defines attribute type: STR DEX INT) and legendary gem's level (gem level X5). The legendary gem's effect is irrelevant, only its level matters. If you want to later improve the augment you will have to level up a new gem and replace the current augment. Yes that involves a whole lot of grinding. E.g. 3x Topaz with a lvl 70 legendary gem will augment your item with 350 INT.

One way to farm gems that worked great for me is to keep the broken crown on before I opened any chest and did bounty to get more chest.

Hey Bro, I'm new to D3,just took down Maltheael my last session torment 3 or 4.. took 4 tries. & I just sub'd. Fortunately I did save all my legendaries & gems thoughout.. and I got almost all characters to 50 or 70 b4 I settled w/ wizard. ~So now I'm gonna do rifts & bounties and Goblin Farm. No arrogance here dispite power gaming 40 year. all advice gets absorbed!

Just wondering instead of doing all that work to add the ancient skill to the item why not just make the ancient weapon socketed then you just add the gem to the socket, that is for a weapon of course.

You have to start over again Lvl to 50 as a start for higher gr push then 80 then 100+

Ty for this video. Was very helpful. Lastly, it'd be worth it IF you weren't running rifts to upgrade a legendary gem to get 1 stat. Let's be honest...they aren't adding fuck all that's new to the game other than useless pets. They don't add USER ORIENTED CONTENT we can utilize on character that makes a difference. They just re-introduce recycled and re-colored of the same shit and for weeks the community of "no-standards" goes ape on bananas for garbage, while the hardcore are left with zero actual standard based content to repeat. Totally new to d3. Having a. Lot of trouble at GR 89. Had no idea about augmenting. Unfortunately my legendary gems leveled are the ones I need. Taegook Trapped and Stricken all over level 75. The closest I have besides those is a power gem at level 30. Question is..... Should I consume my level 75s? So glad I stumbled upon this. Subbed.
