The best part was Ingebrigtsen letting everyone destroy themselves. At top of hill on lap 3 there was a good gap. He caught those 3 on downhill and then just ran a couple feet in front of them for a few seconds almost like saying I'm still here, then he tucked in again. Guy races so smart. If he runs world xc championships again he'll have to be ready for insane pace up front.

Historically, I agree with you. But... 1- I'm not saying that Ingebrigtsen will break the world record in the next Olympics. I'm suggesting he will break the record before the next Olympics or at the next Olympics. 2- Ingebrigtsen is able to hold a fast pace and he also has one of the most leathal finishing kicks. For this reason, 1500m racers can no longer race slowly hoping to kick for a late victory, and 1500m runners have been increasing the pace for the duration of the 1500m in important races. A good example is the last 1500m Olympic race. In the right race, I could see Ingebrigtsen breaking the the 1500m world record without the need of a pacer.

He'll probably run 3:27 mid for 1,500m outdoor and between 12:40 and 12:45 for 5,000m outdoor... I'd personally like to see him focus on some 800m races, if not this year then next year. The 800m is obviously not his strength, but if he could get his time down to at least 1:44 low, I think he has a shot at the 1,500m/mile records. He already has plenty of strength and volume.

He ran an 800 6 months ago or so. It just isn’t his specialty. Even Daniel Komen, whose profile Jakob most closely matches time-wise, didn’t race the 800 as far as I know. The training involved to go from 1:47 to 1:44 would ultimately sacrifice his 3000 and definitely his 5000 training.

I think he will win the 1500, 5000 and 10.000 in the world championchips, if the schedule is ok for him to run the 10.000 also. He has said he wants to do it. When it comes to world records, I dont know, because most of them are tainted by possible EPO and PED use. I think its more realistic to take the world records in the 5000 or the 10.000 than in the 1500 meter.
