I have a lot of respect for Jakob, but - Komen was running at a time when EPO was open bar - Komen was a huge specialist of metronomic pace - Komen was a specialist of 3k and was prepared well before and had many attempts. If Jakob makes his prep, it will his first year, he will make mistakes, will learn and will come back stronger but 3k isn’t a common race. But maybe Jakob will find good pacemaker, but honestly if he beat El Guerrouj on his first attempt, I will consider him as the same league than El G’ Haile, Bekele, Komen and Kipchoge.

Jakob has been dealing with ilness the last couple of weeks, and had to cancel his training camp in Sierra Nevada as a result of that. He is back in quality training now, but will most likely skip all Indoor meets in february.

Yes, has been well known for a long time that Jakob has been sick. He has been sick for about 6 weeks. Furthermore, and also well known, is that Jakob told the media that he has not said that he is going for a WR. In addition, unless something changed recently, Jakob is supposed to to the 1500 m in Lievin and the 3000 m in Madrid. Just seems that the maker of this video is not very well informed. More talk than value unfortunately.

Some athletes take drugs some pro Coaches and sponsors or managers give drugs to their athletes to boost them to the next level of the sport. So I am not saying he is a drug cheat and I hope not.. he seems clean to me. But there is a lot of things that is hidden from us.

Jakob is a monster and live for competition. I remember seeing him at 12 and saying that he was going to beat his older brother and make win the Olympics at 20. Well he started beating his older brother Henrick who was a world class runner at 17. he literally toyed with that world championship 5,000 field last year. I wouldn't bet against Jakob Ingebrigtsen. You also failed yo mention that his 2,000 and 3,000 bests were from three years ago and he didn't need to improve on his 5k last year the proof is in the pudding that world champ 5k.

Jacob's WC 5K win last year was pretty awe inspiring - he won at a canter! Made the others look ridiculous! I rather fancy he has every chance. Love Fischer though - an athlete with impeccable manners (something I always admire in distance runners) and what a fantastic season last year, if he can improve at all, gowd knows what he might do this time around!

Jakob has been sick until recently. He missed out on winter altitude training. Hope he runs in Lievin. Grant Fisher's entry will entice Jakob to go ahead with it. But a WR is unrealistic now. He has his sights on the double at Istanbul Indoors.

The greatest 5000M field ever assembled IMO was last year's World Championship Final....and Inge. won that handily over a stunning field.....but 7:20.67 is the second best WR in athletics (behind only 45.94) and that is very different problem....Komen had perfect pacing...just spot on. That in itself was amazing and so much more than wave light tech. 7:24.9 is vulnerable, but not 7:20......great vid.

I thought ingebrigtsen was going for WR in Madrid in 3k. This is good news if he races Grant. Ingebrigtsen loves Lievin track. Grant should be able to break new American record. Hopefully they have a good pacer for 2k.

I think Ingebrigtsen has had too many setbacks in pre-season, to peek now. He had to leave his altitude camp due to sickness and have had some small injuries... I think he will be at his best later in the season...

Ingebrigtsen hasn't comes close to Fisher's 26:33 in the 10k, nor has fisher come close to Jacob's 3:46 mile. Yet, fisher has run a 12:46 in the 5000 and Jacob a 12:48. And, Fishers 7:28 in the 3000 matches well with Jacob's 7:27. I don't see the 3000 WR going down because of time and wear and tear on the body.

I'm a bit of a pessimist, but considering it's Jakob's first race (even though he has good showings for his first races) he will not be able to keep the pace going after, I reckon, 2200m. If I were a betting man, I'd say that's where the wheels fall off, unfortunately. But I still think it'll be a great race to watch, world record or not!
