What a wonderful person Lee comes across as. Genuinely legendary musician, but the two things go hand in hand, I think. The bit at the end, when he tickles the dog at the road crossing, that’s wonderful 🤍

Lee knew my uncle Dave Van Kreidt, who played bari & alto with the Dave Brubeck Octet. I was thrilled when Jakob's Loveland trilogy of albums began appearing, featuring Lee of course. Quite recently we have 2 new ECM releases featuring Lee: Taking Turns with Jakob & Bill Frisell and Angel Song with Kenny Wheeler & Frisell. I'm so grateful that Konitz was able to make these recordings during his final decade. He was a brilliant artist. Thank you, Jakob (I was lucky enough to see you some years ago in Portland Oregon with Thomas & Joey. It was an amazing show: come back soon!!)

Thank you for uploading this lovely film. Lee Konitz was a fantastically great artist whom always strove to improvise in the moment, without resorting to cliches, licks, or debasing one’s art to make the easy money. That is a very courageous artistic impulse, which Lee maintained for his entire life.
