And if you listen to the players he doesn't even go hard like that in practices anymore. Donte and Hartenstein talked about hella rest days and that he tests their mental toughness more than anything. Any early days and late nights are all self-directed because this is a roster of workhorses and competitors.

The craziest part is, that no player who played under him said anything bad about him. It's weird how fans listen to ESPN and believe everything they say is fact. When in reality, most of their takes are based off what they see and what they hear. It doesn't even have to be facts. You never know someone till you been around them. These analysts aren't around these players enough to know their personalities.

Coaches like tibs...are the kinda guys that want to COACH that mindset into you. IM sure Butler realized this about tibs after the fact or after that game. To make it clear why the narrative of "players don't want to play for Thibs" exists: did you ever have that teacher in high school who was a hard ass and graded you really strictly because he wanted to prepare you for life but everyone hated him and thought he was just an asshole? You did? OK, now imagine that you are 25 years old and you're making money and that same teacher is your boss where you work. He's still the same way, critiquing your performance, challenging you to be better. And you're like "What is this guy's problem? I'm an adult now, stop treating me like I'm a child. My work is fine, the company is making money, leave me alone." Finally, your boss is like "Hey I've been telling you to do better but you keep ignoring me so I'm done giving you chances. I got someone to do your job and they want to be a better employee by doing the hard work." That is why some guys like Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart thrive under Thibs while others slink away and fall into mediocrity, like Evan Fournier.

There's almost certainly some truth to the fact that Thibs is not looking out for his players' recovery the way that he should, and that probably has to do with what he has them doing outside of games as much as inside of it - but in terms of just minutes played somebody is going to have to explain to me how players a couple decades ago played significantly more mpg and didn't miss half as many games as players do today. Wondering if all the nonstop play from such young ages these days is putting early wear and tear on bodies.

Three rotation players down with injuries. You got a dog on the bench begging to stay in games and you need him to. With no other choice what would you do? It's easy to sit at your computer or on your phone and nitpick but Thibs is on the front line with these guys every game and they will play for him. He's not forcing them. They want to play. They don't mind going to war with him. You can't ask for more as a fan but Mikal Bridges has been signed and two of this years draft picks namely Diadet and Kolek have been drafted to play with the team NOW. They will play in Summer League and they will be ready for training camp, so will Precious. They can take up some of the slack. Despite all that know this: Thibs is not going to change anything to suit us fans.

Who would want to play for a guy that has a seven man rotation and doesn’t give other people a chance while he burns the people he believes in to the ground lol

He doesn’t run them in the ground though. The Knicks weren’t even top 10 in most minutes played. You work with what you got and I’m sorry but I’m not sacrificing a game putting in players who don’t understand the system

This interview means nothing. What was Brunson supposed to say? I'm not going to comment on the X's and O's side, but from a player management side, Tom Thibodeau is the absolute worst. Period. He's that typical old school crusty @$$ grizzly coach that hates playing younger players, will identify the top 6 players on a team that he likes, and just grind those guys into absolute dust by playing them 40+ minutes a game for the entire season. Players talk to other players, so if no one wants to play for Tom Thibodeau, there's 100% a reason behind it. Anyone thinking this is just "media driven" is a clown.

The absolute worst? Because he asks star players to contribute? Let me fact check your misinformation for a minute. 2010-12 MPG from Thibs Bulls. D Rose 35mpg Noah 36mpg Same era similar record Lakers under Phil Jackson Kobe 39mpg Pau 38mpg. Would that not make Phil Jackson the 'absolute worst' ?

Ooo sounds serious. Same D Rose who was ROY in year 1 with the Bulls and MVP in year 3? Those guys get limited minutes right? Lol. Up to the point D Rose popped his ACL dude avg 37mpg. From 2008-2012 Pau Gasol avg 37mpg with the Lakers. Tim Duncan in his first few seasons with the Spurs avg 39-40mpg. So Pop and Phil Jackson are actually WORSE than Thibs? Gosh who knew

Honestly, why are most people so stupid...Sure there's a possibility Derrick's injury could be attributed to the amount of minutes he played and trains. But the main reason Rose got hurt, is because of his play style. The way he changes directions and the way he moves, a persons knees are not meant to take movements like that for a long period of time. Look closely at the way he got his first knee injury, look at how explosive and powerful that hopstep was and you can tell that his knee was going to give out at some point. Matter fact, how bout go out to the park, try going full speed going left then do a explosive hopstep going right.

Plenty of coaches are ‘well prepared’. It’s understandable that most Vets don’t wanna play for a coach known for brutal practices/mins. Anyone ever notice it’s often the coaches who never played. Thins, Van Gundy types who are known for long ass practices? Like b/c they never went thru it, they don’t have the same appreciation for players being sore/exhausted? PJ Carlesimo was another from the old days. And we know what happened to him

Thibs has played basketball in HS and college, never as a pro but he was a player. He also doesn't have brutal practices any more listen to the words Brunson is SAYING.

Thibodeau overplays his players, period. Why do you think the Knicks were depleted this year? I mean, it's so obvious running an NBA team with a 7-8 deep roster is a disaster in the making.

Did he consult for the Sixers and make Embiid get hurt? What about the Clippers? I mean are all those coaches liable for player injuries too or you just like to make it about one guy? lol

Thibs had a 9 man rotation, shit happened. Randle dislocated his shoulder on a drive, OG first aggravated his elbow on a dunk and then pulled his hammy and had weird injuries pre-Thibs, Robinson literally got his ankle pulled by Embiid. Stop putting shit on Thibodeau
