Love his intentions and his recovery! But as a woodworker, I have to correct some false information here - First, bamboo is NOT a wood, it is a reed - very different. Second, the idea that buying wood products contributes to deforestation is a wholesale lie. Lumber companies in the US have done SUCH a good job of growing and replanting that we now have more trees in the US than before Colonial times. This is a fact - check it out. We are no longer using "free range" wood, to coin a term, in commercial building, at least not here in the US. If you buy African Mahogany well then, you have to check your source to make sure you are buying from a farm and not "old growth." But even Luan, which used to be ALL old growth and a terrible industry, has wised up and are now using farms. Third, the problem with bamboo is its propensity to STRIP. I have bought a few bamboo things and almost all of them have stripped where screws went in, particularly under pressure. So this idea that you can disassemble and reassemble with no loss of strength or holding power... I just don't buy it. Kudos to the guy... but he should use real wood, American "farmed" wood, and stop telling myths to sell his products.
