This is so interesting. Here in Grenada we have some different names for those fruits as well. Well for avocado we also call it pear or we call it avocado. I don't know that second fruit at all. Third fruit, we also call it Five Fingers like our friend in Trinidad. Fourth fruit we call it Skinup. June Plum we call Golden Apple. Sapadilla we call it Mammy Apple. Next fruit we call it Cashew. Next fruit we also call it Star Apple but it's not often we see it now. Next fruit we also call Sugar Apple.

I think the Ministry of Agriculture in the Colonial Government of Jamaica, labeled the place where the fruits/food came from into the island. Much of the food came from Africa and Asia. So we have Otaheite apple ( Out of Tahiti), we have East Indian mango and also Bombay mango thàt I guess named for the region of India that the varieties are from. We also had a Christmas mango. Guinep is called ginepa in much of Latin America and labeled as such in the grocery stores in New York. Very interesting to explore the different names!

The avocado you call Zaboca in trinidad is actually the kweyol( creole) word in st Lucia we call it zaboca primarily due to our Creole language. Derived from the French word (avocat) Most of the countries that speak Creole call it zaboca The countries like Trinidad 🇹🇹 Dominica 🇩🇲 etc have some Creole ancestry and hence why they call it zaboca also Haiti 🇭🇹 and st Lucia 🇱🇨 are the two islands with the most similar creole dialect then Mauritius 🇲🇺 etc. Not to be confused with the dialect in Martinique and Guadeloupe that are a heavier French dialect closer to Parisian French. Same goes for chenette, pommecythere, sapodilla we call it SAPOTE in st Lucia, sugar apple we call it pommekanell in st Lucia

@@YohanPartap Growing up in 60's/70's Jamaica, one thing I enjoyed was the clever banter, witty repartee, and light-hearted humour which existed between Islands. For example: Remember that song about Trini and Bajan, dying of starvation? Bajan said: Look, look, look Trini, let us make a cook Yuh put de rice. I put de meat Then we'll all have something to eat

Pommecythere/June plum. The names come from the name Jew plum or plum of the Jews, but because of the French influence in Trinidad's history, Trinidad got and kept the French version, and Jamaica got the translated English version.

Guinep makes nice juice. Use hot water to help take off the edible portion. Squeeze it, like how you extract coconut milk, to get the juice. The sour the fruit, the tastier the juice. Green mango makes nicer juice than ripe ones too. You would never know it's mango juice.
