That flat face wide cheek boy from the US can really eat and he can handle the pepper too! Unna starved him beforee he came over there or what? Now the redhead ballhead one who with his head tie up with a scarf. He's more reserved.He dont want to look greedy. Tell that Yankee bwoy to knock himself out with all that good Jam food and stop trying to be cute.l dont know their names nobody is telling us that but we notice everything. What about pork n beans salt beef and like what they cook in Cayman . And what about Bammy and fry fish out at Old Harbor. Come on now Old Hsrbor has history Aldo Rosehall. Easy on the beer out at ole Harbor there! Let us see what the black lndians and Maroons look like and their food and culture refresh your history about Nanny she was a maroon fought the English in the Civil War for freedom. Yes we heard what made Nanny so famous! 😍

Hi there love Food Boss videis One question, What kind of fruit are they hanging on the trees growing near the sea behind where you were standing on the beach ? They are yellow. Oranges, and not any citrus donot generally grow near salt water or on the beach.Tell me what kind of fruit are they l thought you would speak about them but you were focusing on timing the king fish, and talking a;out the conch! You love that scotch bonnet pepper too! You too bad!

'This video contains small fish and species such as parrot fish that help to build our reefs. While my personal view is that these fish are not to be caught or eaten, many of Jamaica's reefs are damaged and fisher folk find it hard to survive without catching these fish.' There are many other ways of catching pelagic and good sized fish in Jamaica in a cost effective way. Using pots and not releasing fish is quick and easy money, not the only way of making it. Those are juvenile french angelfish in that bucket filled with other juvenile fish that havent even become old enough to breed yet or even the chance to lose their yellow bands before becoming their adult size. They are reef fish that are totally unecessary to eat and not the only thing these guys can find, I could say the same for the mangrove snappers, tang and baby squirrel fish in this video. You guys are just shooting yourselves in the feet catching these fish and your just doccumenting someone shooting themselevs and your own ecology in the foot. your disclaimer in your description doesn't really show the whole story and the severity of this and how it will only make it harder to make money for fisher folk generationally and only damages the reef more. The only things that were caught thoughtfully at all in this video were the huge barra and lionfish, but im assuming that barra is too big to eat from fears of cigatera? Sorry Matt but we talked last video about this stuff, I've seen alot of suspect hunting in my time and I understand the struggle but this is just lazy fishing and appealling to a demand people dont need to demand, it also doesnt need to be normalised further by positve content being made about it, with just a small disclaimer to cushion the effects. I loved your videos but decided to unsub today, all the best
@missbiggs94373 жыл бұрын
Amen sir, well said; over fishing and catching/eating such young and juvenile fishes - and reef species especially - is thoughtless and detrimental not only to the fishermen themselves but to the ecology as well.
@tamekawatson74283 жыл бұрын
But you acting like he's the one catching these fishes himself and what could he do to prevent this type of fishing in most countries ppl are still gonna do it, it's about almost 1000 fishermen in Jamaica and speaking out against something that could potentially cause income lost for most might cost him his life. And say he stops eating or participating there'll be more ppl that will. You unscribed because of ignorance about 1 individual among millions that you thoughf can do something to prevent this way of living in the country for centuries even from the Arawak Indians what do you think they ate those same fishes and animals. Instead why don't you do something about instead of laying blame at the feet of one man that his voice can't do anything.
@JackB3453 жыл бұрын
@@tamekawatson7428 I am in no way laying blame on Matt, nor this fisherman. But to normalise this as something that is acceptable isnt acceptable, seeing as Matt's videos reach so many. I am doing something about this professionally in my day to day life, In the caribbean educating and working with food and ecology. Feel free to direct message me if you would like to discuss the knock on effects of demand through food and how it effects ecology, especially here in the Caribbean. These videos are more powerful that you realise and reach many who want to eat Jamaican food when their visitng, so directing them towards, unsubsidised fisherman who are struggling to make a living because of the bad fishing practice and crippled ecology, is not going to benefit Jamaica. By discussing and identifying these systemic problems we can stop them from being made worse by demand, its a knock on effect and I am sure Matthew wants to make a difference and help his country rather than remotely aiding the cripppling of its ecology and focus of dying and unsustainable ways of living (not fishing but the way the fishing is done.) The nature in Jamaica is the backbone of its tourism and will be made worse generationally through lackluster education and lack of discussion. I am not a vegan activist by any means, what I am however is someone that believes works in sustainable and realistic ways of eating natural food in the Caribbean, doesn't matter your income level or food cultures there are ways to eat here and hunt sustainably, demanding that is the start, not demanding juvenile fish caught in pots near a reef. Like i said feel free to message me directly I'm happy to show you who I am and the fact Im not some keyboard warrior with no knowledge of this stuff. Try to re-read what I said and realise I'm not blaming anyone here, the demand is the issue, aswell as the hard outcome for these sort of hard working people, they arent subsidised well by the Jamaican gov nor created policies that guide them in a direction that can actually benefit them financially while aiding local ecology. I unsubbed because I had watched 2 videos like this and didn't feel the need to watch a third, thats my choice and opinion, if you struggle to accept my opinion and just accuse me of accusing without making any difference to any of this, then im happy to discuss each other's jobs and what difference they make to this exact topic, all the best.
@tamekawatson74283 жыл бұрын
I understand what you're saying and I agree but most ppl especially the governments in Jamaica cause I'm Jamaican they don't care about that like most politicians everywhere they'll listen to him and probably say they'll look into and not do crap. And yes these videos are powerful but to who tho not a third world country who's economy is shit and depends on tourism even if it means at all cost destroying the ecosystem. The same way ppl tried to bring awareness to whale and shark fishing to no avail and unfortunately ppl still buys them knowing full well the impact it has on the ocean and its creatures. I would believe one voice can do something but unfortunately to be real it won't. There has been arguments like yours before but the power ignorance and greed outweighs anything else. It's sad yes but we are so few and for him like I said he's weary and aware of the severity of the situation but sometimes a still tongue keep a wise head mostly where your agenda can get you killed
@tamekawatson74283 жыл бұрын
And places like Australia that outlaws fishing on the Great Barrier Reef has brought life back to the reefs and its inhabitants but their resources and economy are way prominent than ours and it's the same in S Florida where I grew up but again it's America. I hate it also and I wasn't trying to be rude nor disrespectful but sometimes things are not just black and white and you gotta look at it from his standpoint, he's unfortunately outnumbered

Watch these videos of Third world countries and try to pass judgement. Not everyone gets to live those types of lives yoga smoothies and vegan diets when they please. In the real world it’s about feeding your family and staying alive.. Jamaicans don’t hunt for fun we hunt to live. I won’t even waste my time saying anymore...

We will soon have to have huge fish farms or import more and more and more. It’s so disheartening. When you speak to people they have every excuse under the sun for it, it’s just inexcusable. They will suffer in the long run.
@Aaron.Davis563 жыл бұрын
@@michellegove I agree with you and you can see from other videos that the fishing is unregulated and a free for all. Nets, pit bull size traps killing everything. No large fish because they have nothing to feed on. Without small fish reaching breeding size, extinction is just around the corner.
@magikjohn528hz3 жыл бұрын
Definitely should NOT be cooking fish over plastic bottles...
@wendellwhite53693 жыл бұрын
I understand your dilemma with not wanting to be that guy who is talking down to the fisherman. However, it’s a problem and it’s only going to get worse. I’m not with you in blaming hotels. That’s too simplistic. We have seen overfishing all over the world and that combined with the lion fish invasion are more likely to blame. The times I’m aware of where the fishery rebounded was when government was able to provide both a carrot and stick, carrot, help the fisherman transition to other industries and monitoring heavy fines for small fish. Unchecked, the fish are only going to get smaller. Also, eat Lion fish till your belly bust.
