First We Feast

Күн бұрын

Sean Paul is a dancehall icon and certified hit maker. But he’s also a ride-or-die obsessive when it comes to the food of his native Jamaica. Anxious to learn more about Jamaican curry goat, Horsepowar follows Sean and his latest Dutty Rock signee, Chi Ching Ching, to Glady’s Jerk Center in Brooklyn-a new-school home for Caribbean cuisine on Rogers Avenue. From a crash-course in patois, to a heated beef-patty taste test, Sean and Chi Ching school Horsepowar on all things Jamaican before diving into a couple heaping bowl of curry goat and oxtail. The Curry Shop heads to the Caribbean this week, and who better to breakdown the dos and don’ts than two generations of dancehall legends? Jeesam peas!

As a Jamaican, I found this to be waaayyyyy better than the time you guys had that guy from New York who didn’t know that you can make patties with more than just beef (ex curry chicken, callaloo and beef w cheese). Sean Paul is the real deal! Big up yahself!
@DaNumba23
@DaNumba23 5 жыл бұрын
Lol Oh no he knew that. He was projecting his NYC narrow-mindedness. Put down everything that doesn't line up w/ your beliefs or perceptions. In his case, he never had a chicken, cheese, nor a spinach/ callaloo patty, so the only patty he feels is the real one is the one with beef

He knew about them, he just claimed they weren't "pure". I don't know what that nonsense was about. I feel like they hyped him up to say that so his portion of the video would be a contrast to the rest.

Don't think u would find a jamaican cooking goat like that, the man cooking is not Jamaican. He is from the Caribbean though, but his accent isn't jamaican suh im definitely not from yaad. First time I saw someone cooking goat like that, she was from St Lucia. Plus it's not the norm to cook goat in coconut milk in Jamaica, its done here, but mostly in restaurants

I love my culture; first gen Jamerican here. I grew up on all of these, my parents are yaadies to di bone lol The richness of our soil has no words; everything I had at my grandmama's house in Kingston tasted betta. My auntie's roasted tamarind chicken was like nothing I'd ever tasted. My uncle Fatta had a farm at the house with chickens, pigs, goats, ackee trees, guinep trees, banana trees, and thyme. Tending to the farm when I visited was one of my most fun and humbling experiences in my childhood. I have a lot of history to learn so this was informative for me. I always love when people respectfully embrace us. We have a colorful background and the world needs to know why we likkle but we tallawah Out of one, many and wi deh yah

Why when peole meet Jamaicn people they have to ask them about weed.😡 Putting a negative stigma on Jamaicans. The majority of Jamaicans do not smoke weed.

@Brian Abisdid In this video they are suppose to be talking about food. There is a bigger picture here. There are many attributes of Jamaica and their people not just music and weed. There are scientist, farmers, and other achievers people who are trying to build the countries image and are doing good things for themselves and the country. Why didn't the presenter ask about that. Instead of promoting a personal minority activity. With what is happening in the world with black people we need positive imagery/mentoring for future generations to see so they know there is more to life. We have substance. We are doing good things and lead productive lives.

@Chris 2008 Smoking weed is a stereotype not a cultural behaviour. I don't see other races being asked stereotypical questions when being interviewed on food.

Lady stop chat. Wha wrong wid weed? Just because white people tell you seh weed bad, you believe it? You sound like a fool. It's western medicine by the way of Big Pharma who put a stigma on weed. They did that with all herbs. The replaced herbs with man made chemicals so that they could patent it. Patent medicine is western medicine. That is what it is. Patent medicine. Patent drugs are toxic to the body in the longterm. Many in the short term too. Weed is not a bad thing. If you drink, you are putting a way more dangerous substance in your body. If you don't want to smoke, drink a little marihuana tea. It relaxes you. Helps with pain, insomnia, anxiety, helps you to eat if you can't eat, etc, etc. And by the way, the weed in the US is laced with man made chemicals. That kind of weed can make you paranoid, etc. Drink real Ital weed.
