Frenchmans Cove is not by far favorite.The water is too cold , because of the mixture of the mixture of the cold river water. It can also be dangerous.You will walk out say 4feet ,then it will suddenly like you are falling off a cliff and you are say10 feet below.
@JAMAICAWITHIRIE4 жыл бұрын
@@dannylee1446 These are good points, thank you! Though I must say, mixed water is exactly what makes it so special and for good swimmers - it's good it goes deeper, while the place by the river is shallow for kids. The water in the river is called, but that's the point... when it's hot outside - refreshing!

@MadeNCda4 жыл бұрын
I agree with most of what you've shared Irina, however, I would caution folks about swimming in Treasure Beach when tides are strong, seas rough or off the cliffs in West End Negril, I would also caution about swimming off North Shore such as in Ochi - I rented a private airbnb in Ochi which had direct ocean access. I've never experienced an under-tow but I did there - Old Man Sea yanked on my legs and tbh I've never forgotten it. Have read of swimmers drowning off Treasure Beach as well due to under-tows. Also sharks have attacked early morning fishermen off the north coast as well. So yes, the beaches are safe for the most part but there are elements we must also respect such as currents and marine life.

I first visited Frenchman’s Cove Beach, Portland, Port Antonio, Jamaica, in the latter part of the 1970s while serving in Peace Corps Jamaica Group 25. One of our training and development opportunities was held there. Its beauty for me was the hot/cold flash between the ice cold river water and the much warmer sea surf rolling in from the Caribbean. After swimming out through the lagoon, into the sea and back, the unique water exercise lasted at least 45 minutes. The hot/cold water flashing had relaxed every muscle in my body till I was just limp yet exhilarated. Words of praise must be given to glorify Jehovah for granting such a singular experience. Only God Really Knows…ITNOJ. Amen. MOJ
