I like Grand day out the most because it didn't have a villian villian. He was just a robot who wanted to go skiing. Plus they build a rocket and go to the moon to get cheese! Somehow they make an out there concept feel grounded.

Despite it's flaws, my personal favorite short is "A Close Shave". I mainly like it because I think Preston is an intimidating villain with him rustling sheep and turning them into dog food, him abusing and manipulating Wendelene, and the fact he tries to kill not only the sheep, but also Wallace and Wendelene. Though "The Wrong Trousers" is a close second in my eyes.

God, the memories this brings back! I love Wallace and Gromit and Aardman studios: Back when my mum could eat cheese, her absolute favourite was Wensleydale and Cranberry; I collected the magazine series, watched the DVDs all the time, I was in a rabbit phase with Curse of the Were Rabbit and Watership Down, I started snacking on crackers with butter, I bought a lovely brown teapot, I planted by own vegetable garden and I even remember drawing some pictures based around them to help me learn maths! XD So yeah, I LOVED these two as a kid. At first I didn't want to be too sad with Sallis’s death. He had a good career with both this and Last of the Summer Wine. Plus he was in his 90s, so he wasn't gone too soon. Then it really hit me, like, wow… no more Wallace and Gromit… Gromit’s on his own now. :( I love what the shorts managed to do with characters like the Robot from the first short and Feathers McGraw, it’s pretty amazing how they managed to make them so expressive and threatening, despite how they cant even move their faces. It’s no wonder we all found that penguin shit-scary! I think that moment where he pulls his gun out makes everyone go “Fuckin’ ‘ell!” @___@ I love your description of Piella (or however her names spelt), I can vouch that those kinds off utterly detestable and two-faced villains are a lot of fun to write and seeing people’s reactions for. Then again, you’d know, given the General from Echogeddon. Wallace and Gromit were always a beloved part of my life, but only now as an adult do I truly appreciate it’s britishness and how genuine it is. Especially with how Northern it is.

All 'Wallace and Gromit' films (short or feature-length) were treasures. If Peter Sallis passing means that this is the end of the franchise, however, I say it's for the better-especially in a day and age where so many Hollywood executives desperately try to drag a franchise/series for their own greedy needs. Aardman will always be one of the greatest animation studios in my opinion (I mean, if the worse they can do is 'Flushed Away', which is still not bad, you know you've got a good studio). Even if they can't live on forever, hopefully they can inspire someone else to come in and be as new and as great as they are. As timeless as'Wallace and Gromit' is, and while we still have 'Shaun the Sheep', maybe it'll be high time for it to inspire a new, great stop-motion franchise for this generation.

Wallace in the film was voiced by both Peter sallis and a guy called Ben Whitehead (in curse of the were rabbit they pitch shifted both voice actors to play wallace. and for a matter of loaf and death it was Peters last production with aardman that is known since he retired in 2011 and it was said that ben will be taking on the voice of wallace. personally i would like the see the franchise finish and not get dragged out but if the magic is still there i can take 1 more adventure and then wrap it up.

I understand that stop motion animation is a LOT of hard work, time and patience to put into something that runs for 30 minutes in the finished product, but I REALLY hope that they continue with the Wallace and Gromit series, and I hope the new voice actor of Wallace will carry on Peter Sallis' legacy in the series!

Did you know that A Grand Day Out was going to be a 40 minute movie that included the robot, Aliens, a Spoof of Star Wars, a fast food restaurant on the moon, and Wallace getting thrown in jail and Gromit was to rescue him. But someone at Aardman said it would take forever to make it so he scrapped everything except the robot.

Aardman always create great villains they’re either really well developed and sympathetic like Paella or The Toad, hilariously over the top like Victor Quartermaine or A. Trumper or they’re unsettlingly creepy like Feathers McGraw or Preston

I can imagine in an alternate reality, Gromit would have the voice of Private from Madagascar, given the British accent, and that his voice functions similarly to that of Garfield or the Homeward Bound animals; have many thoughts, but the voices don’t have an echo, making it seem like they speak telepathically.

This was my favorite claymation of all time! I remember seeing a few shorts on tv back when I was five or six and just was stunned by seeing clay figures move around like live people. It was the first time I'd ever seen stopmotion/claymation in ever. I even remember the shorts I saw, the ending of "A Grand Day Out" and the whole short "A Close Shave". After that I got two of the short films on VHS (A Grand Day Out, and The Wrong Trousers) and recorded the third off a library copy. Saw the movie in theater, loved it and still do. Wallace and Gromit got me into stopmotion and I'll forever be thankful for this series to inspire me in stopmotion animation, showing me that 2D cell animation and later 3D animation or live action isn't the only way to tell a story. I'm glad this series is as popular as it is even here in the U.S. RIP Peter Sallis

My favorite Wallace and Gromit short is a matter of loath and death: the reason is because of the great villian and the mystery that is represented in the short. Oddly enough I just watched today cause it's been awhile since I have seen it and one thing that I noticed in the scene where Piella comes up stairs to her bedroom she sees her photo album with all the other bakers she has killed opened. Anyone would just assume she had just left it open but I think she knew that Gromit was in the bedroom and she acted like he wasn't when she closed the book and when she moved the mirror a second later. Fluffles also knows he's here when she catches his scent, which acts as red herring for the audience to only think that fluffles is the only one who knows he is in the room. Another tip to the fact that Piella also knows he is or was in the room is when he has a dream about him falling on top of her only for it to be revealed as a nightmare as well noticing she wasn't there. And what follows next is Gromit trying to protect Wallace with the whole airport security and it was at that point she knew she had to step up her game and since she knew fluffles and Gromit had feelings for each other she knew how to lure him away from Wallace. Out of all of the Aardman villains she is probably the smartest one. She's like a combination between a James Bond villain and professor Moriarty with a hint of a Batman villain. Second favorite is more of tie between a close shave and wrong trousers because both have an intriguing twist and turns along with two great villains. Third favorite is a grand day out and that short is actually pretty much fun to watch to with some cheese and crackers. As for the movie well it's not as good as the shorts but it's one of aadrmans' best feature films and a nice twist on the kids horror movie genre with some good comedy and great twist. The villain is weak and is more like Gaston from beauty and the beast but the were rabbit transformation is just awesome. All of the adventures of Wallace and Gromit is a pure Hitchcock with some great British humor. As an American I will gladly take enjoy the fantastic world of Aardman Animation one slow movement at a time.

I can see why you wouldn't want anymore Wallace and Gromit shorts and I share some of your feelings towards it. But at the same time, I really don't want the last things Wallace and Gromit related to be a 7 episode educational series and a theme park attraction (which is really awesome but that's besides the point) Also, Wallace and Gromit are just too iconic to drop. They're now these timeless characters that will come always come back. They are the British Mickey Mouse or Looney Tunes and they're going to be kept around forever (even if that means going through different voice actors).

Preston from A Close Shave (1995) is a cyberpet have gone rogue and He is also very silent, but deadly type of robot villain. *3. [13.01]-[13.05] Jambareeqi, you have to understand that W&G has a very low budget compared to other animated films. Which do you think is cheaper- having Wallace sitting around reading papers or having to build an entire new set with puppets as the judge, jury and audience, etc. However there is no evidence that he didn’t attend the trials.

Jambareeqi+ I Hated Victor Quatermaine! he was rotten and such a pathetic jerk to Wallace and he's feels too posh but is really a total douche and Is the villain that doesn't find anything in Lady Tottington just her money. sort of like The Villain from Corspe Bride that muduered Emily who is now The Corspe Bride for just Jewelry with Helena Bonham Carter Playing both love interests,But The Curse of the Were Rabbit was released before Corspe Bride in the Australia but it still counts Jambareeqi.

What I hav enoticed is that in every film after the wrong trousers Wallace and Gromit have some kind of business, and they take in a lodger cos they need money, nice continuity. (Btw a close shave is actually my favorite)

I completely agree that no-one else could do Wallace justice but the late Peter Sallis. Personally, I think the franchise is near-perfect as it is: just the four short films and the feature-length movie. I love them all, they're some of my absolute favourite animated productions. Rest in peace Peter Sallis.

Jambareeqi+ Since it's Sad that Peter Sallis passed away on June 2nd last month after the whole years of him voicing in our Childhood. Actually Ben Whitehead did the voice of Wallace in The NPower and Holiday Advert on TV and now there's no rumor that Wallace and Gromit will have anymore shorts. Michael Bond the author of Paddington also Sadly Passed Away and now Paddington 2 will have to Dedicate for Memory in the End Credit when Paddington 2 is out on November if you have seen the Paddington Movie.

I agree with your opinion because my opinions are your opinions as well. I always wanna write comic books as an adult. When I see a bad movie, I cringe a lot. And I mean A LOT.

I personally haven't watched any of the shorts. I only saw Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which I really enjoyed. I love how charming Wallace is, and Gromit is a very expressive character. I would love to give these shorts a watch, but they don't seem to be on here.

What's more interesting about Piella, is that she is like a combination of Feathers and Preston. She is a manipulative and cunning schemer, tricking Wallace with a false personality, but also a cruel and brutal abuser. Wonder if this was Nick Park's intentions. And that's just something i have just realized today!
