Aardman Studios has an odd legacy. The studio went from a cel-animated short film about a British superhero name "Aardman" to creating Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and other stop motion projects (excluding Flush Away since it's CGI) that are made with passion and effort. Look how far they've come now, at least they keep stop motion alive from being obscured out of the mainstream.
@kauske Жыл бұрын
Wasn't the choice to make it CG partly because of Aardman's then recent fire? For what it's worth, they did a fairly good job of recreating the feel of stop motion for the time; not as good as the lego movie, but still pretty good for 2006. I've also heard that they were considering going partly for CG in the first place, since real water would damage the models, so they were going to render the water and other effects, and layer it ontop. Given they're making a sequel and sticking to the CG medium, I have to wonder how well it will replicate real plasticine models with our current tech.

Chicken Run has to be my favorite because 1) it's the only high-quality heroine-driven movie Dreamworks has made to date, and 2) Ginger is among the top five smartest, most resourceful female characters in all of Western animation. Growing up in the 70s and early 80s, I saw so many animated movies in which female characters came in three basic types: 1) dull, 2) evil, or 3) not there at all. So Ginger means a lot to me. She's just the kind of heroine I would love to see more of in Western animated movies. However, I can totally see why Arthur Christmas might be preferred. Arthur is an adorable protagonist, to be sure, and it's the most gorgeous-looking movie Aardman has made, with its brilliant North Pole world-building. It's a close-to-perfect holiday movie. My one nitpick is that I think Grand-Santa gets away with a little too much, with his flaws handwaved away with the excuse "well, he's just old"; his knee-jerk cruelty to Bryony, for one thing, made him a lot more annoying than lovable, for me anyway, and it disappoints me that Arthur, kind--hearted as empathetic as he is, doesn't stand up for her. And that throwaway line about "women learning to read" just... doesn't land with me. I don't see why it even needed to be in the movie at all. Still, it's a delightful movie, and it would be my #2 pick.

And it was made by Nick Park. The same guy who wrote and directed Chicken Run. Talk about how the mighty have fallen. I still respect the guy but I think he could've made a much better film

Early Man is very underrated in my opinion.

Aardman Studios really makes some heavy department movies, and changes of company partnerships over the years, but even some of the weakest films tend to be good, rather than bad like Pixar (Cars 2, Brave, someone's opinion on Turning Red and Lightyear) I have watched Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit's very first feature film, Shaun the Sheep's Movies, The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists, but i am yet to watch Early Man, and i'll someday view Arthur Christmas. Such a great Top 4, and i hope Aardman does their best (since we have a second Chicken Run film this year on the way)

It's all perfect but you neglected to take into account that flushed away is one of the greatest films of all time

Well my Favorite movie is the Wallace and gromit one. But one question what are your thougts about the chicken run sequel from 2023?

The pirates was my childhood and I still watch it today

I had no idea Arthur Christmas was an aardman movie, maybe because is not a stop motion movie (unless it is I don’t know)

Shaun the Sheep Movie is my favorite, like you said in the video, its heart is incredibly strong. I think it's the strongest heart out of every Aardman film. Also, I think Farmagedddon and Early Man are better than Flushed Away.

Yeah I didn't care for Early Man as I just don't care for football.

I love Pirates. It’s one of my all time favorite movies. The jokes totally align with my sense of humor, and almost every scene fails to make me laugh.

Btw they are making a new chicken run movie its coming on Netflix coming at the end of the year.

I love how Ardman was invited to star wars visions and what they make, wjile not very original, is filled with the classic ardman style and british feel

I like how the 1st worst aardman movie isn’t even subpar quatily and is still better than any other animation studio’s output.

I mean, this is your opinion, and I respect that. But, here's mine. Flushed Away is some of my childhood, and while I can definitely see your points nowadays, it doesn't stop me from calling the movie a personal favorite of mine, among others. Also, I love "The Pirates! Band of Misfits"(my memorized title of your 4th best Aardman movie) a lot. But, modern day, I haven't even managed to finish it yet.
