The thing that no one is talking about, that shocks me more than anything, is that PGL has edited out the crash round from their VOD. As of the day I'm posting this, it's still like that. If you wanted this to just seem normal, you wouldn't ever do that. I was under the impression that this crash was just normal, crashes/bugs happen all the time(unfortunately) and this was just a bad one. By editing the VOD, now it seems sketchier. If G2 wins now, it'll be like the Olofboost situation again. Asterisk major, though not necessarily induced deliberately. There are a lot of delusional takes that somehow G2 'would have saved 4 guns for last round' or something, which just aren't the reality. It was such a high likelyhood that it was round over with at least 2 kills for the Ts, most likely game over due to the CTs not having nearly enough for a full buy.

I think that Maui severely understated how bad iM has been at this major. Just look at the game vs Spirit. The only reason why that was competitive at all is because jL and w0nderful completely entered god mode and Alexi called well despite poor fragging on his part. In MR12 if you're just barely hanging on while there's a dude dropping 40 on your team(I know, there was OT as well, but still), and you're losing rounds due to one dude chain feeding, that's a massive issue. On Ancient, iM was chain feeding weapons to Spirit after Na'Vi would win a round, so that his team could never get anything going. It was almost to the point where him even touching his keyboard was a liability, and it wasn't overaggression or any one disposition mistake like that, it was just a seeming lack of direction. It's also not just stats. Kills are super important and often either exaggerated or downplayed depending on the commentator's disposition, but regardless of what number was sitting on iM's scorecard, the play was just abysmal. The take could have been that B1ade should have subbed in, and I'd probably still agree with it, only slightly joking here. Any average/inexperienced/~.90-ish rifler would have performed better in a lot of these situations. I almost want to see Na'Vi somehow win the Major just to see the analysis of how hard one player can be carried.

I don't think cheaper defuse kits is the answer and I don't see developers / organisers wanting to go back up from MR12. But it did come to mind that increasing the bomb timer could have some good effects on pacing, allow retakes to be more favourable for CT.

the problem with recreating game state in CS will be that since positional information is so important putting players back into positions pre-crash will could allow the CT side to know where each T-side player is in a retake scenario preventing the site hold. Since the round continues and the fights are taken when the round is replayed CTs get this information. In the Jame scenario you can isolate the players positions in the retake if the round gets replayed meaning you are much more likely to win the retake

How is it possible that at a World Championship calibre event in one of the top 3 most popular e-sports currently, an extremely crucial round of the match in which one of player's PC malfunctioned, the round in question is not just replayed? Another Major with a HUGE asterisk hanging over it forever. I understand rules are rules, but maybe the rule is just bad and needs to be changed? There is a reason the rules are what they are. Replaying rounds isn't any more fair - there will still be one of the two teams that gets screwed over. It also opens you up players cheating by faking crashes. This obviously sucks so so much for VP, but the only solution is to do whatever is possible to prevent future crashes.

Replaying with money and equipment reset doesn’t screw anyone, maybe your strategy for that round is expired but that is way less damage than what they do to the team that affected by crashes because they outright lost the round no chance whatsoever

Although I do agree that chrono break should be a must have for the cases player crash, They cant even create proper anti cheat, so I dont see it. But another point is, that so much info could be given away already, that a chrono break would play out in advantage of a party, which had no business with the round anymore. For exmaple here a lot of timings were clear, Jame was known now, most G2 players were known, so the scenario changes dramatically. Maybe you could reset the round to some state were nothing was happening for like 30 seconds or sth.

Well, during the match Richard addressed elephant in the room, but it seems no one even bothered to hear and really understand the bear in front of the mic - Jame. He was not disappointed because of the round when his pc froze, but because of the VP's entire performance. In short, on their map pick Norbert had to go insane for them to be able to win it, catching 9:12 for overtime. On Inferno, 22nd round, they were in the lead 11:10, and then lost a round when G2 played with 3 pistols and 2 SMGs!? Yes, VP got unlucky in a very big moment, but their game shouldn't have to depend on shitty NVIDIA driver or so. That's his point of view. He did not try to put a blame on anything other than their performance and he genuinely did praise G2, not pretending for a second. Everything he said was in a calm manner and, I believe, completely honest. That's what makes him big. So, at the end, people that hate VP's style are in so much grief for them, calling G2's win undeserved, calling Jame a stoic and what not, but at the same time completely ignoring Jame's explicitly expressed thoughts. Interesting, yes, because of enormous bias, classical hypocrisy and here and there (I want to believe unintentional) malice from big names in industry. Fučk you and see you again. :)

It's weird how this kind of a hot take came to my mind and this video came up in my feed right after but: Navi would of not made playoffs if s1mple was in the team. And no, navi would not win the major with s1mple in the team, just because of his personality everyone in the team would play much worse. With s1mple in navi, the last major they didn't even make playoffs and in the Rio major they lost to furia in the quarter finals.
