Hey @wokenstoked, great video as always! As you said in 7:30 we are always using and testing our products to come up with improvements in design of each part of the tent to make it more usable, resistant and comfortable. There are a ton of little details we changed along the years, and it's interesting you could compare these details as we believe they really make a difference. Regarding the endcaps, we are already testing improvements to this part but as you said, if anyone needs a replacement we will send it right away. In any doubts or suggestions just let us know.

First thing i wish you’d change (i have one), is support poles in the bag, not the structural horizontal poles. It’s incredibly frustrating to NOT be able to use the awning if you forget the bag of poles. ALSO in warmer climates, rain water pools around the tunnel hole, even when dropped on one side. It then stretches the fabric irreparably. Wish it was thought out just a tiny bit more. Especially for the price. Also desperate for single walls for the 270 awning. You don’t seem to sell them and its frustrating. The tunnel sail track is sent IN TWO PIECES…! Why make it harder for everyone, please, just one piece and have dedicated marks on the rtt to show where they go. Please guys. PLEASE have a better website with more details on everything and PLEASE attach decent instructions/booklet with your gear.

Heys james baroud, your ladder sucks bruh, moves with the car movement through the night and by next day its against the vehichle making it dangerous to climb down. Also... why velcro on the bottom of the entry doors, lets frigging water in resulting in wet bedding, cause u cany seal it 100% on the inside of the tent. Why the hell didnt you just use a 2 direction zip around the entire door way enterence. Probably 2 biggest floors in this expensive tent design.
@gigilaroux76211 ай бұрын
Can u sit up straight in all of your tents? Can u please consider designing a tent that has a 360 clear vinyl window option behind all of your mesh screens vs say on the new Odyssey it only has a clear vinyl window on the rear door? And then have the blackout material behind the clear vinyl windows? I mean we are camping outside to be outside we want to see the outside even if we can’t have the screens fully exposed say due to rain. It makes not a lot of sense to either be open with screens or have to be totally blacked out as the only 2 choices. And also to have some flat area for solar panel mounts directly to the lid instead of need to spend another 1200 for mounting bars. Thanks

Honestly I had recently taken out the drawers and put the mattress in the back and it was sooooo cozy and comfortable - plus you get the insulation of the car! @@stokedtour I should have some pictures posted on Instagram by next Sunday of my first winter camping trip of the season. I’m taking a shit ton of bedding with me to keep me warm lol. And yes it’s super cozy inside the truck I love it. It’s great for when you’re camping in a different spot every night so you don’t have to break down and set up all the time. I bring a little pop-up bathroom tent with me and that’s it.

I haven't noticed any holes in the fabric, the only thing i've seen are some barely noticable "stretch gaps" that started appearing late last year. My guess is that it's due to use in the winter where the fabric is cold not a flexible when popping the struts in place to open the tent. I'll keep monitoring them for sure but for now I'd say that the fabric is still functioning very well. Hope this helps!

Yes that answers my question do you use the isothermal extra layer offered or the regular tent when winter camping?
@stokedtour3 жыл бұрын
@@toyotafansoverland4069 No, I only recently found out that they offered the isothermal walls. I've just been doing winter camping without them, and having enough layers and a warm enough sleeping bag.
@xord32 жыл бұрын
My only con for this is that you can't mount the ladder without the awning extended. It forces the camp to be made in an instance when you want access to the tent but not the awning., if that makes sense. Also the design team should have it so the pattern continues from the RTT and flows over the awning deliberately.
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my other side is not blocked so I use the other side if I just want to keep the awning closed 👍

Glad you did a review. Awesome concept except a few major cons for me. 1. No floor. 2. It's not fully enclosed. From the view angles of this vid, if it was raining sideways with heavy wind, it appears as though it would just get every thing wet inside the awning room. I have the ARB awning room with a floor and a RTT with annex room to keep everything OUT. I like the tunnel concept, but would much rather have a fully enclosed/secure room attached to RTT. Thanks for the vid! Have you considered a tent stove?
@jimjones55303 жыл бұрын
Are you able to zip/cover those large screens on the awning room?

@nggerald98033 жыл бұрын
Do you get heated inside the awning during summer ?

Hello again there ! After a season of using this exact kit ourselves - how are your thoughts/experiences about wind? I mean not just a fance breeze, more like constant wind with occasional heavy bursts? Have you experienced such situations yet? Thanks for these videos and greetings to the far away north ! :D
@stokedtour2 жыл бұрын
To my experience, structurally, there doesn’t seem to be an issue, just a lot of flapping and wind noise on the walls, but that’s to be expected haha. How’s your experience??
@trooba30272 жыл бұрын
@@stokedtour I only had very bad weather just once now. Almost constant rain and very constant wind with heavy bursts. In the end I had to remove the sidewalls to avoid the whole thing to collapse. I am planning to add 3 aluminum posts to each side wall and to strap that to the grounds with the same straps that I use for the "front" of the awning. No experience with that yet of course. That was inspired by a guy with the same setup - just with the space JB tent. His sidewalls stood up sturdy against the same wind. So I'm most confident that this will work. In summer we appreciated the awning with sidewalls a lot when being at festivals/camp sites. I only wished JB added maybe a few loops to add straps on the sidewall sides. In conclusion - I very much like the setup. The Rooftoptent did not have any issues with the windy/rainy condition at all - kudos to that :D Wish you a very nice weekend - maybe your already out there in the wild again! :D Cheerio!
@StaplesInTents3 жыл бұрын
Great review! I noticed that you assisted the JB RTT up when you were opening it. How much effort does it require? How tall are you?and about how tall is the truck? Concerning the panels on the awning part, they appear to be “windows” do they zip or close? Also, what is the total time for setup and breakdown?
@stokedtour3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The RTT has assisted-opening struts, so you can just push it up and it will stand up by itself with no effort at all. I show it in my JB RTT review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYukeJmdba2Dnc0 However in this case, I was in 0F temperatures so I just needed to help guide it a bit. There may have also been some snow on the top of the RTT which weighs it down. I’m 5’10” and the truck is about 6’6”. The panels on the awning walls are windows with mosquito screens that can be zipped closed. 3 windows in total. RTT setup and tear down is about 57s and 1.5 mins, and I haven’t timed the awning and the walls but I would say that each is about 5 minutes or so to setup and tear down separately 👍🏼
@jonliong71783 жыл бұрын
Nice awning! Is there a reason you didn’t go with the Baroud Falcon Awning? I think I see you have an ARB awning for the back? Do you think it’s better to have two separate ones? I’m looking into a similar setup with FJ + Baroud Evasion but trying to work out the awning setup too! Thanks man- loving the videos!
@stokedtour3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man!! First off - love the FJ and evasion combo! I got the 1250 rear awning because I already had a traditional side awning from 3 years ago, and i think this was before the 270 awnings were a thing. As a quick and cheap solution, i just got the smaller 1250 awning so that i could keep my rear door open during trips without having to worry about rain. I wasn't even thinking of doing a 270 awning at the time. So yeah, that's why i have the dual awning setup. I haven't tried the Falcon awnings yet, or any 270 awning yet for that matter. I initially favoured the old school style, but these 270 awnings are growing on me. Would love to test one someday. From what I've seen, the JB Falcon awning looks really strong, and i think it even has a tunnel integration too. I'm certain that the falcon awning or the 270 awning has a dramatically reduced setup time than 2 awnings. At the end of the day, i guess it comes down to your preference of setup time, budget, ease of use, etc. Can't go wrong with either. Hope this helps man!

@stokedtour3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man!! The RTT mounts pretty easily on my roof rack, i just use 4 mounting points and you just need to get underneath with a wrench to undo the bolts. Since all RTTs are heavy, you'd probably want an extra set of hands or two to get the thing down since these things do average about 145 pounds. I've figured out a way to do it by myself but I don't recommend it haha. Hope that helps man!

Therefore, a rooftop tent sold to another person is not so valuable due to you are left on your own to repair any issues as JB were very clear they are not interested. Read the fine print…..
