Choreographed by Bob Anderson (1922 - 2012). This guy gave us some of the greatest sword fights from some the most popular movies. He started on “The Master of Ballentrae” in 1952. He not only gave us THIS sword fight, but the sword fights from “Lord of the Rings”, “Zorro”, “Highlander”, the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” and many others. He was also the man inside the Darth Vader suit for the fights between Vader and Luke. Every time I see a video of one of the sword fights he choreographed, I feel like I need to give him the recognition he deserves. Rant over.

In the novel, Moonraker ... A rich German Nazi is hideously disfigured during the war - he has plastic surgery and reinvents himself as the darling of England ... persuading the government to enact the "Moonraker" program .. which is a demonstration of Britain's nuclear deterent. But the missile's gyroscopes are programmed to hit London, not the North Sea as planned. It's a shame that this movie wasn't more like the Daniel Craig movies running with this storyline. The CGI parasurfing thing was so silly and stupid, even by Roger Moore skiing standards. However - I love this sword fight! And Miranda Frost (I wanted her to win against Jinx!) - so pleased that Rosamund went on to do some great roles (like Gone Girl). So - this movie wasn't a total loss ... and I also came to see what the title song was actually doing. It's tuneless and clubby - but that's perfect for a mantra of holding on to your sanity while you're being tortured every day. So, the song "Die Another Day" has actually improved with age - within the context of the tortured Bond set-up.

@@perunplague9794 The novels did not delve into gadgets and focused on espionage of the Cold War. Bond himself is a cold blooded killer and he knows that in his job, he could be dead at any moment.

Yah and they aint coming back ever again, especially this new new one its as gay and predictable as just about anything these days, its like star wars Last jedi Bond level shit can already tell, Bond is now a has been knowone even recognizes him anymore, fortunately theres a strong" whamen of color" to show him the ropes...he already knows and mastered...and maybe put his hhwhite ass in its rightful place lol....straight up making James Bond a simp/Gamma boy ultra Woke style....man it looks like pure dog shit, frankly I haven't watched any of the Daniel Craig ones its Brosnan and thats it for me, but Im sure a couple are at least okay enough but this new one, yah enjoy the coming trainwreck. James Bond and the spy who # Times upp'ed me" haha....

If you look closely they sped up the part of the scene with those broadswords (you cant swing them that fast in real life)

I'm pretty sure what ever the bet was for the value of the diamond is chuck change compared to the amount of money graves(I'm assuming bond didn't have to pay) had to pay for the damages to the club during their fencing duel.

07:35 I always assumed this guy was someone famous doing a cameo. He's got a distinctive look, he gets to do a flippant comment, the camera lingers on him... and his delivery was a bit wonky. Turns out he's show jumper/actor Oliver Skeete. To think it only took me 18 years to find this out...
@NotQuiteFirst4 жыл бұрын
I'd never seen or heard of Oliver Skeete until I read your comment, now things make a bit more sense. I always thought that character was very strangely placed in the film, he looks so out of place, and is inexplicably given a lot of attention for his few seconds of screen time, especially as he delivers his silly joke so awkwardly. Understandable if he was some sort of minor celeb back then that they gave him a cameo.
@HiringHamblin4 жыл бұрын
@@NotQuiteFirst Yeh, thats the thing. Its the sort of cameo where the producers expect the audience to go "Hey look, its that guy we all recognise". But this guy doesn't even rank in the minor sportsmen of yesteryear category. I don't know if it would be more or less fitting to have Chris Akabusi or Colin Jackson instead
@NotQuiteFirst4 жыл бұрын
@@HiringHamblin Though if the role really had to be taken by a black British sportsman, I think Chris Eubank would have made the role his, and would have fitted in well in the posh club. They could have given him a full minute of screen time, it would be a hilarious cameo.
@HiringHamblin4 жыл бұрын
@@NotQuiteFirst The only white Brit sportsman I could think of at the appropriate level (notable, not too big a name, not a Premiere league footballer) would be Steve Redgrave but you couldn't put him in a Bond film. Eubank would be amazing. He could've recommended a bespoke tailor for Bond

Look, I love the late Bob Anderson's work in films like Highlander, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Curse of the Black Pearl, but the biggest problem with this fight for me, while there's some others, is that there's a couple of instances where Bond does a spin when it doesn't progress the fight and even leaves him vulnerable. The worst of them being the one at 4:46. Watching Corridor Crew breaking down stunts and fights has made me pay attention more to action scenes.
