I knew James Ehnes at Meadowmount in the summer of 1992. Everyone was telling me of a legendary performance he had given the year before, playing this piece. He had TEN curtain calls! TEN. He played Sibelius Concerto the summer I knew him, and aside from one slip-up, my mouth was on the floor the entire time-I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

People just don't know how to cough with their mouths closed. In Vancouver it was especially bad. Sometimes it's the people who come to the concert just because there's a famous person playing and they just want to say they've been to the concert. True music afficionados have learned how not to cough.
