Anyone who honestly admits they made mistakes and truly learns and changes their lives for the better deserves to be accepted. We're all human and while some actions are unforgivable others are "growth opportunities". Cancel culture was doomed from the start because it doesn't grow and evolve into something better.

While I don’t support what James did in ANY way shape or form, I 100% agree with this comment. If we don’t give people the space for growth, no one is going to see their faults. We have to admit James Franco is DEFINITELY not the only guy who has used his fame to his advantage. I wanna say at least 70% of famous people do that. I really applaud James for speaking out, he’s actually spoke on it a few other times. Almost No other celebrity would do this. He is exposing his faults and I want to say hopefully learning, growing, and moving on. As humans, that’s all we can do. Cancel culture in my opinion makes things 10x worse. If you think trying to push someone off the face of the earth for a mistake they made or bad choices they made in their past, that person is literally never going to get better. That person is probably going to have more hate in their heart and want to hurt more people because they might feel like no one is there to help them or teach them so they don’t make those mistakes again.

no one said you cant be uncancelled ( minus sexual assault and racism and stuff). He kept going with it untill he DID get cancelled. cancelled, fired, interventions. he was ALWAYS destined to face the consequences because it was ALWAYS doomed to catch up to him. what matters now is what he does now. I kind of relate to James Franco, in a way. I was very emotionally immature and spent a lot of my 20s and 30s looking for validation through sex. Anytime the prospect of a more serious relationship loomed, I would run the other way. Looking back, I guess I was just using people, which I regret. Now I’m in my 40s and in the first serious, long-term relationship of my life. People do change!

I’m happy for him that he found Isabel, the love of his life, I hope. The fact that she didn’t dump him, after the allegations that came out on him, says a lot about her loyalty in this case. So, in a way it was a good thing, because it showed to James that he has finally found the love of his life, that she’s really loyal. But anyway still I don’t think he did anything wrong, since what happened was consensual. For me, James Franco is just a man who lost his path, who had a lot of going through and he couldn’t judge himself properly

Hmmm, so suddenly he became faithful when the whole world figured out who he really was behind the scenes? Isn’t that something? Clouds parted and she’s the best thing that’s come out this. Sounds like a movie of redemption. He used all those other women and finally the “right” one came along. As romantic as that sounds, it feels to me that this woman was nothing more than a distraction from his world falling a part. She served and is still serving a purpose for him. I wonder if they would still be together if Franco was invited back to Hollywood quickly after the scandal broke. Narcissists don’t change or have a real genuine ability to heal. But James, hey we’ll go along with the RomCom of redemption version you’re spinning. BTW, I’m not a fan of “Cancel Culture” and I’m not a fan of covert narcissists either as they are destructive to people’s lives and to society at large.

Are we as women incapable of making our own decisions? Stop making us out as these brainless puppets who are incapable of decision making. How do you know that the women he was with weren't using him for fame, money, connections, etc? There are two sides to every coin. He got help and is talking about his experience. That's it.

@@mimad4923 I don’t know those other women but he himself has admitted never being faithful to any of them. Are you saying that all those other women were out for fame and money? Highly unlikely but since you think I’m insinuating that they were brainless puppets which I don’t but on the contrary. They were most likely emotionally conned which again he admitted in that interview by future making by saying things like “This is a hard time for me, give me a year.” It’s his pattern of behavior that has been in scrutiny not all those other women. I think instead of being an apologist for his behavior you should think about his negative impact on all those women he made promises to. He himself said he let down a lot of people. Instead of deflecting and very crudely victim blaming all those women you should look past his facade and follow his behavior pattern. Seems to me that you’re willing to give him chances and throw shade on all those women he cheated on as if it was their fault because they might have been chasing fame and money. Since you don’t know these women either it’s absolutely disgusting how you were so quickly to dismiss them and turn them into gold diggers. We are what we do, not what we say. His actions are clear. I can say that at least he didn’t put blame on anyone unlike you. He does display classic signs of an addict and anti social personality which comes with the ability to manipulate his way out of a negative situation he brought on himself. These types of tactics are extremely effective and what most likely lured all those women in the past and those same tactics he will use to get himself out of this. These types are articulate, charming and charismatic which is why it makes them so alluring and why people get duped. It doesn’t mean people are brainless puppets, it only demonstrates and proves how efficient and dangerous they truly are. The fact he appeared like Christopher Columbus who just discovered America when he said that he will try to date like an old fashioned gentleman by getting a coffee with someone and try to have a conversation is nothing more than a clear sign of arrested emotional development. I’m so happy that a 40+ year old man has just discovered that intimacy has nothing to do with the bedroom. Really? No where in the interview he mentioned that he went to therapy or is currently in therapy. This type of dysfunctional behavior doesn’t go away even with years of therapy but can slightly be modified. So no, I’m not buying his story of redemption but I’m glad you are…Does this mean you’re a brainless puppet like you insinuated in your comment I made about his women in the past? Of course not but he’s just that good 👍 but thanks for projecting, if you know what I mean. Just because he’s admitted his con game in the past, it doesn’t mean he not playing another con. Let’s break it down to the bare bone. He admitted to his past behavior but now he’s changed because he found a woman that he had t cheated on. That’s his signal that he’s a changed man and we should find it in our hearts to forgive him because he’s now aware of all those people he hurt. We should all forgive him now because he’s clearly shown effort. If public opinion sways to his side he will be allowed to work again. Ding, Ding, Ding! I think we have a winner. I’m not saying that he shouldn’t work, I’m saying that his intentions for this interview are very questionable. In reality he hasn’t really done anything accept stayed in a relationship without cheating. Did you think about how hurtful this interview sounds to the women that were with him in the past? I think this interview was a slap to them!!! Don’t mistaken people who have knowledge about addiction and personality disorders with people who just want to be negative to prove a point. My suggestion is find a little more compassion to the women he’s clearly admitted to screwing over. If you think he’s just talking about his experience and that’s it. Think again…

@@dorothyabed4233 If someone is displaying a pattern of behaviour, that is also in-turn hurting me, and I continue to allow that person to hurt me by giving them additional chances - than I have some responsibility to take for the way I am feeling. It's not your place to "buy his story of redemption". It's not your story, he has nothing to do with you. He's simply being interviewed and is explaining his thoughts process. It's not meant to make you believe him or otherwise. People cheat on one another all the time. It's sad and it hurts, but it's a reality for a lot of people. Some people take responsibility for their behaviour and seek help in order to better themselves (which he seems to have done), and others don't. He seems to have been deeply affected by money and fame, which he admits. And he's not the only one who has had this experience. Instead of judging, perhaps just listen and then take it or leave it.

@@mimad4923 again I never said that the women were brainless puppets or fame, money, connection users. You did! Pretty damn judge mental for you saying not to judge him. This is his interview talking about all the crappy things he did to all of them and outright admitting it and yet you still go after the women he screwed over. Please find 5% of that compassion you have for him for all those women he duped including yourself. His pattern of behavior is beyond scary and he’s been carrying on like that for 2 decade. Yep, I think at this point I will not judge but discern and say that he’s still a wolf in sheep’s clothing all based on his past behavior. we only know that he displayed this type of behavior pattern its because many women came forward not because he was that obvious in each individual relationship. He himself said that he was involved with these women and they weren’t some groupies waiting out side of his hotel room and yet you still made them out to be Gold diggers. That’s just shameful and don’t speak for other women in your comments. Speak for yourself only because you’re certainly not speaking for those women who came forward and unmasked him to the world and you’re certainly not speaking for me. As you redundantly pointed out that all we can do is take it or leave it! I think I definitely made it clear that I’m leaving it. If my explanation bothers you as to why. Well that’s another topic of why you got triggered and felt the necessity to reply to my comment but that in itself shows you have a problem with my opinion. Please take it or leave it, and bless your heart

@@dorothyabed4233 you seem oddly obsessed and invested in him, which is a bit bizarre. What did he get outed for? Having consensual sex with other adults? As ugly as cheating is, it isn't a crime. It's not my job to have compassion for women he cheated on, and if he DIDN'T have any compassion for the them - he probably wouldn't have sought help in the first place. He recognised his poor patterns of behaviour and did something to change it, long before anyone "exposed" him. What is he meant to do? Re-date them? Financially compensate them for being a cheater? Please. No one is saying that what he did was OK, no one should be condoning cheating but again, it's not YOUR place to to believe him or to forgive him or to judge him. I detest people who sit on highhorses and pretend that they've never done anything wrong in their lives, and then judge others (even when they've very clearly taken steps to address harmful behaviours).
