In my opinion, deconstruction only works when you have an establishment, ie. the several decades of superhero comics before the Watchmen came out. Also, it's probably not a great idea to do that with Superman.

I agree...but then again I am a tad biased because Christopher Reeve was MY Superman.

I'm sick to death of the word "hope" being associated with Superman. That's not what the S symbol stands for. That's Zack Snyder nonsense. But Superman is supposed to be exactly who Christopher Reeve embodied, and exactly the way he depicted him. No dark blue, no giant cape dragging on the ground, no basketball bump suit texture, no missing red briefs. Superman needs to be exactly who he said he was to Lois in the original Donner film: a friend.
