I appreciate you watching this video. But if you're trying to reduce my analysis into "so... they canceled it because it was BAD," I very much disagree. Several series get renewed despite a lot of viewers thinking they're "bad." A lot of Star Wars shows have amounted to a mixed bag, quality wise. Quality is subjective. Views and cost are not. And with major IP like Star Wars, views are not solely a product of quality; it means there was a disconnect in the marketing and conception of the show to prove to Disney+ subscribers that this one was worth their time. So before we even got to the perceived quality of the episodes, The Acolyte had a higher than normal threshold to clear. The Acolyte was not a perfect show, but IMO, its finale ended in a WAY better place than Ahsoka's finale did. There are other factors at play when it comes to cancelation vs renewal.

It allows for the series to be viewable by someone who knows nothing about Star Wars, and is accessible to people who don't know what the "High Republic" or "Darth Plagueis" are. The issues with Star Wars currently are not about the characters, their race, their sexuality, or anything like that. Thinking like that is the issue puts you in the exact same position as Kathleen Kennedy, calling everyone who doesn’t think the project is amazing, a misogynist, a racist or a bigot. The issues are the stories, the way characters are written in conjunction with their affiliations. We haven’t had many coherent stories from Disney Star Wars, much less many stories that feel like Star Wars. Disney has turned the franchise into a shell of what it once was.

Legends was built over the course of 40 years. As far as we knew there wasn't gonna be a 2nd trilogy. When the 2nd trilogy came, no one thought there was gonna be a 3rd. The old school fans, who helped build legends, are the ones who kept the IP alive when Lucasfilm stopped producing the films and the general public could care less about it. I doubt Star Wars would be what it is today without them.
