This brings back memories of when I was a kid and watching the footage of the last days at Rolling Acres Mall.

James Ingram was born in Akron, Ohio. So, it's fitting that one of the last songs played in this mall is from an Akron native.

I remember the original walk-around videos from the last day of Rolling Acres. I kept trying to find the song that was playing and finally did. I've played the actual song, but the echo and the way the song sounds in those videos and this one not able to understand the words is how I'll always think of the song. lol. Thank you for this video! Great job!

Perfect encapsulation of the calm before the storm. I always wanted to visit this place and walk through the halls of closed storefronts and battered displays, but oh well, guess all I can do is dream. Thank you so much for uploading. ❤️

Im crying my tears out, this means so much to me, my family memories were lived in this mall, RIP 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏 They should have saved the red fountain. We start noticing the beauty when it gone, so sad, I spent my life here, Christmas, birthday's, weddings. Why is everything disappearing, 😭😭😭😭😭😭 My name is Kevin

I feel you one hundred percent. It's sad that anything good nowadays is taken away from us, what makes us smile, laugh and now all we can do is cherish the moment of good things that are here, until it goes. Nothing lasts forever unfortunately... I know this comment was last year, I do apologize. Hope you're doing well my friend!

I can’t believe this played on the very last day which was October 31, 2008 what’s today the only Reminence of the mall that is left is the former seers building which is now recycling center and as for the rest of the property it has been completely demolished in 2016-2019 and an Amazon fulfillment center sits in his place as of 2023

in the early 90s there was a shooting in the theater in spring of 1991 alongside other newer malls opening in ohio which made rolling acres feel obsolete things didn't get better at the turn of the millennium as after the wall street crash following 9/11 most of the major anchor stores like macys closed or became discount centers on top of the mall being stuck in the 90s even by the 2000s (a time period when malls were being modernized (even the twin towers mall was originally meant to be renovated before 9/11 with plans to renovate it in 2003 announced a few months before 9/11) back on topic while most malls were starting to look pretty rolling acres stayed the same with its tired 90s feel on top of the upper middle class in america being low even these days (which is why these days they say that the house in the simpsons would be unaffordable to the middle class in 2021) so the mall closed in 2008 after dollar general closed and the target became a storage center and the former sears discount store became a waste facility after that teen gangs and scrappers pretty much destroyed the mall to an irreparable state and even during a snowfall in 2012 the glass roof was shot at covering the mall in snow (which is why in its later years the floors got all wet and mouldy with frogs sometimes living in the pools of water after it rains in its final days) as you may know today its an amazon fulfilment plant like most dead malls in rural areas these days

The last TWO ownership groups of this mall were bogus; the owners at the time the mall first shut down (in 2008) were backed by a Ponzi schemer; they sold the mall (two years AFTER it closed down) to Premier Ventures, who then proceeded to fight the city of Akron tooth and nail over property taxes, all while the place sat abandoned, rotting away, heavily vandalized... the city of Akron finally took possession in 2016 and began demolition
