Absolutely delicious interview, great fun! I love AVFTTOTW album - there's so much going on instrumentally in the songs that it took me a while to realize how much is James doing here for the music, but wow. I also highly recommend "Live in Berlin 2019" (2022) CD, these vocals are just unbelievable. True master.

One of my favorite songs. It helped me understand growing up Mormon. Hearing the voice that was the narrator in my head. So much guilt and shame. Beautiful comment

James was probably the least loved member of DT before but the interviews immediately debunk a lot of people's claim that he's an asshole. I got to meet him during their Philippines tour and we talked for a few minutes. He is a solid dude and definitely the voice of the band.

Loved it! Fun story: many years ago my wife and I saw Dream Theater in San Francisco, one of the dozens of times we have seen them. During the first break, James talked to the crowd. He was giving everyone a sense of what is on the setlist, and he said "we're gonna play some old shit" -- only he really emphasized the word "Shit" and put a growly edge on it and extended it out, so it came out as "we're gonna play some old SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!" That must have been some 20 years ago, and to this day, my wife and I use that inflection on the word "shit" in all kinds of contexts. 🤣

I was at that show that James mentioned. It wasn't the Rock in Rio, it was Monsters of Rock in Sao Paulo!

He is and allways will be the only voice in Dream Theater. I don't care if he is not able to hit the high notes anymore, we all getting older and i really love his voice.

I love James soo much!! He has such a great frontman personality, I think it was cool how he called his drummer “the drummer” lol instead of just simply saying “my son Chase” he has such great stories too. Trying to dance In 19/16 😂😂😂 I’m glad you said “we got his back” because we absolutely do!! I’ve even been kicked out of class back in high school over a fight I got into because some kid wanted to tell me DT sucks and Korn was better and I snapped, lol

DT doesn’t change keys for their live shows like many acts do to save the singers voice. Yes, he’s been pitchy on a few shows out there. But watch the live shows that he’s on it. Example are their official live videos, he kills every note.

Learning to Live or A Change of Seasons is the song that defines Dream Theater... Octavarium has too much Pink Floyd in it... I mean, I think that's the best, but still has too much external influences to be called Dream Theater's ultimate song. That's my opinion.

Learning to live is absolutely up there for me too. The opening riff in 15/8 with 4/4 over the top, plus that high F sharp.. yes please!
