I lost my mom last September. We were so close. There is truly not a day that passes that I don’t think of her, and many times at that. I have a voicemail of her’s wishing me a happy birthday two months before she passed away. I discovered it a month after she passed, cried my eyes out and haven’t been able to bring myself to listen to it again although I was close on a few occasions. This song means so much to me, it’s just beautiful. I’m seeing James in Pittsburgh for the first time even though I’ve been a massive fan since the 90’s. I truly can’t believe they’re coming to my city and I’m counting the days. It would be great if they played Moving On but no matter what, I’m just thankful that I finally get to experience them live for the first time. Take care everyone and for anyone who has lost a close loved one, big big hugs from me.

I have long identified with the pain Tim is in in this vid....having suffered the loss of my Mum many moons ago. Today, i am watching this, with tears in my eyes, as my Father is close to "Moving On". I have the most bizarre relationship with my Dad, we sometimes clash (always have, always will), yet i love him and the thought of losing him, despite dealing with his illness for 5 yrs, has suddenly intensified this past few days. He said to me the other day, he just has had enough. To know he just wants to be at peace now, is sooooo difficult to hear, knowing he feels there is nothing left to live for. And for selfish reasons, i want him to stick around as long as possible. Losing my mum seemed so much easier to deal with, as, at the time, nobody knew she was on borrowed time. ...but it came to light after, she knew it herself, and decided not to burden us. Life is mostly a beautiful thing, but it is interupted now and then by the pain of losing loved ones and sometimes, that pain becomes the focus and we temporarily lose sight of the beautiful things (the sort of things which dont come with a price tag attached!!)

I like looking for music here but we are all stupid for being on you tube really. Apart from generally being part of the empire, the provider of this channel shouldn't offer a "dislike" button as it offers the opportunity to stupid people to invisibly and unaccountably troll something for no reason. They are stupid and so are we for spectating and tolerating it - we should go elsewhere instead of encouraging this shit. Anyone disagree? - you are stupid anyway.

This band was sent by the God's. Sending messages of Beautiful Comfort to so many people, also so that we can all reminisce of all the good childhood memories that we all hold dear to our hearts and cherish now and for our beautiful children,s future and also think of our beautiful journey that awaits us all but with a smile. Thank you so much James, for those amazing drunking nights, in a darkened local nightclub with one of those brilliant lite up dance floors like Saturday Night Fever in 1989, as a teenager memories of sitting on the floor to Sit Down. James you will not believe that being a Scotsman that you brought so many people and stranger's together with that one feel good track in that nightclub for any night that record was played , pure genius I say!.THANK YOU! JAME'S YOU ARE A TALENTED SUPERB BAND THAT I WILL LOVE FOREVER. MY DAUGHTER AGED 13 LOVES YOU TOO WOW YOUR MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE! You are beautiful Band keep these amazing records coming. I first saw the video for this song in my parents house about 6 years ago, I was on my own in the living room and it moved me to tears thinking about my loved ones mortality. My dad walked in and I cleared my eyes and pretended that I had some grit in them. I couldn't look at my dad though, I kept getting this feeling that he wasn't going to be with me for much longer, I had to leave the room, rather then tell him I loved him very much, I just walked out. Anyway dad died a few months later, I did tell him how much I loved him while he was in hospital but it never feels enough to say it.

I keep coming back here now that I've lost beloveds too, and in short order one after another. When I go, since we're all "on our way", I'd want them to guide me too, "leave a little light on" as it were, When you love it's transcendent. When you lose love, it's.....does anyone have the word? I don't stop crying it's part of my life now. They were alive when I first heard this - now it means something else.

When I first heard this song was when I was with my girlfriend and I really liked, I felt something special about it. We often heard it because she liked the radio station where it's played. Since english isn't my first language I just understood the lyrics a bit. After she passed away I wanted to hear this song again, I saw the video and that was like... I don't even know how to express it, that video and the lyrics represents what she and me lived when she was on her way (except she and me were always saying I love you to each other). Now this song have a really deep and emotional meaning to me

I just want to say something to you guys. I'm 50 years old now and have been a music fan my entire life, from when I thought there were little people who lived in the boxes that produced the music in my parent's living room. I have been a James fan since the early 2000's (I don't know why it took so long for me to hear your stuff). When I first heard this song and saw the official video something inside me turned itself on. The song impacted me in a way that I don't believe any other song I have ever heard before in my life has ever done. It has set me on a voyage of appreciation for this thing called life and LOVE that is always so incomprehensible to many and is mostly inexpressible. And yet, in spite of that ethereal nature, here is "Moving On". Thank you James for moving me. This song is a gift to the world, a reminder of what love, life and light is. God bless you all.

The best live band I've ever seen, I proposed to my girlfriend at a james concert about 14 years ago.. Been married 12 years and have two children. She's a star was the song playing when I proposed. They make you feel alive and the feelings you get is fucking amazing.

Tim absolutely love this song and sung so emotionally. Always hard losing your mum Ive had 14 years of loss. I listen to this song and brings back so many memories.

DazfromEngland I can sympathize - sorry about your Mom but glad you have those memories. Tim actually said "This is for Robert" before singing this, so I think he was talking about his very close friend Gabrielle Roth (who taught him dances and died right before his Mom did). I think Robert was her husband. You can hear clues in lyrics like "Never said I love you, hope you knew..." He definitely wasn't talking about his Mom I'd say, b/c I'm sure he told her many times he loved her. Stayed with her as she died in his arms. Compelling, and it all comes out in his poetry.

Doddle Pink When someone writes poetry about a personal matter like their death you can't ever be sure what they mean or who they mean it about, I'd say. This combines the loss of two people in many ways, I think, esp when looking at Anslie Henderson's "wool" video, the one that got the award. He's said it's about the loss of his "beloveds" in an interview on YT I caught, but again, we can't put our own labels on what a poet means. He's truly a talent with words-pairings.

Stephen Lewis Check out my comment way up top. Those two were his special ladies he said so many times. I talked to him at a very small once-only concert in NYC, small club venue, about a year ago, but it's what he says to the world that gives you the depth of his love and loss. What an incredibly emotional man. True poet.
