James Newton Howard did an amazing job. I think it's offensive that it only has a thousand views...

How can people give credit to Gary Ross for this music? He may have hired James Newton Howard to create it, but James Newton Howard is the one who actually MADE this breathtaking music. The credit belongs to him.

The beginning sounds almost like someone was looking back on happy times and reminiscing, missing the good days when the world made sense... James Newton Howard is a masterful genius and he knew exactly what music this movie needed!!

All those musics reveals what is Hunger Games.. About the emotions, the feelings, the anger, the sadness, about love!Simply by listening to this music, I understand that Hunger Games is not just a simple movie, this is what we could become, or undergo in any ways.. I don't know how, but I know that H.G is refering to reality, or could be. This film is a real phenomenon, and I'll NEVER cease to cry, smile or be angry or be like "in love" for this movie and for those musics which are fabulous.

Howard writes beautiful music. But it seems countless recent movies use the driving drums (starting at 10:30) just so you don't miss an action or pivotal scene. Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean is responsible for the trend. The Dark Knight?
@handznet10 жыл бұрын
Yes, it sucks, this score is beautiful and these driving drums destroys this great theme. I really hate this trend when rather then by good orchestration rhytm is driven by drums. Anyway rally nice score!
@AdhamOhm10 жыл бұрын
The trend started earlier than that, I think. The Mummy and Gladiator (both 1999) had a lot of it.
@kurtburgess151910 жыл бұрын
Felamine Probably right. It's been used for awhile. Dimitri Tiomkin could use drums effectively in the golden age when it set a tone for the script. But they did not set a mindless rhythm. Generalizing a bit here, but there just doesn't seem to be any originality churning out endless action adventure film scores. Studio bosses say, "I want those driving drum things from that hit movie because this is will be intense!"

Well, let's take a look. From 1999's Snow Falling From Cedars, Howard composed Dinossaur, Unbreakable, Vertical Limit (all in 2000), Signs, The Village, King Kong, Batman Begins and The Dark Night (with Hans Zimmer), Blood Diamond, I Am Legend, Defiance, Salt, The Last Airbender, and this year's The Hunger Games and Snow White. I mean, there was some serious trash, like Green Lantern. But, overall, Howard's body of work is way above average.
