We DID learn about Empress Matilda's escape from prison... which couldn't be more irrelevant, and the "other" Anarchy, the feud between her and King Stephen..... I read Dalrymple's books to help fill in the huge gaps in my understanding of the country where I was actually born. Given the huge elephant in the room-the former British Empire, this needs to be better addressed in school.
