Beretta is garbage now. After 35 years of wanting a 92FS I finally ordered one from my local gun store. It arrived, I took it home and made it mine. After a few weeks I figured out that it was/is a parts clean up gun. The barrel is weird, looks a touch longer than it should be and slightly scratched finish everywhere. M9 blued purplish frame with mis-matched jet black rattle can quality spray FS slide. I specifically wanted a 92FS because I have medium sized hands and the deeper cut in on the FS would help me with reach to the trigger... Bought 3 Glocks before I finally got this Beretta. Had plans for several more, but never again. Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice, well, that ain't gonna happen.

Where was it made? It seems that a lot of the Tennessee guns made in 2020 had issues. I had one that was fully replaced by Beretta, after 9 months of waiting. Since then I have bought 3 more 92s, all made in Gallatin, with no issues. It seems like they have gotten their act together down there.
@gutblaster187
@gutblaster187 Жыл бұрын
Trigger is slightly better out of the box, but the price certainly isn't. Better price comparison is a P226 vs. A 92 with an LTT trigger job or even an Elite LTT, depending on how you option out the Sig. No matter how much money you pour into a 226 trigger, you'd never reach the perfection of an LTT trigger job, while still maintaining reliability. Ergos on the other hand are much more subjective, though I agree that the 226 is an excellent platform.

The safety shape is what kept me from it. Way too sharp feeling and harder to manipulate. Outstanding interview, James! I became a Beretta fan quite by accident. It started with the 21A, then I was gifted a 90-Two, which is crazy underrated! I got my 84FS for a screaming deal. I never expected to own a .380, but it's seriously sweet. Earlier this year, I started researching my "next" handgun. I looked at Sig and FN, among others, but decided on the full size PX4 Storm. Great interview, Carlo seems like a really knowledgeable and honest guy. I think it's fair for Beretta to wait on any trendy caliber to see if it sticks; 10mm especially has a lot of issues (long straight-walled cartridge with wide range of power) that makes it tough to develop for. Except for weird local laws and preferences there is almost no desire for anything not 9mm or *maybe* .380 outside the US.

I was also happy to hear an answer about the 81 Series/Cheetah; having those or something similar enough back stateside would be quite nice. Hopefully they keep the trigger guard rounded and offer a no-rail version for looks' sake. A question on if Beretta would move the safety to the frame instead of the slide on more of their 92 variants would've been appreciated too. :D

All they'd really have to do to the PX4 Storm is add grip texture and redesign the shape of the decocker levers a bit. Maybe reshape the disassembly lever and move away from the kind of swoopy 90s scifi surface imprints, and have patterns more in line with classic 81/92 series grip panel lines. But that's almost entirely surface level stuff. Even the general shape of the gun is great, it's just the surface details that make it come off as an ugly duckling. By the way, thanks for doing these interviews with the Beretta guys, James. They're great to listen to.

Px4 suffered because it strattled a time. The frame had grip /texture shortfall. Had no quality red dot option. Stock trigger was a real step backwards IMHO. It had amazing potential and Beretta stopped developing it. I'm not looking for a sig level of over development. But it's been how many decades and Langdon tactical is the only one still trying.

I think it suffers mostly due to being a chonker of a pistol. It's just so overbuilt for military contracts, that it doesn't slide as effectively into CCW usage. People love to hate on the 1911, but it's so slender that it can carry easily. PX4 is so fat. So if you're buying a big ol' pistol for HD/Range use instead of CCW - why buy a PX4 when you can buy a sexier M92? I think that's genuinely the hold up for many prospective shoppers.

I love 92FS's still. And would love to see them simply offer a tuned trigger for the series. And offer more models with steel parts again. It's a more traditional gun for more traditional shooters I think. And many of us mod our pistols since Beretta doesn't offer us what we want from the factory.

I would also love to see them modernize the finishes by starting to salt bath nitride the slides, barrels and metal parts.

I always liked their line of 9mm pistols, ever since i've seen them used by Riggs in the "Lethal Weapon" movies, and McClane in the first 3 "Die Hard" films. haven't gotten their 1301 series of shotguns, but have heard they're equally as good as the Benelli M4

I would love to see Bretta make a pistol in 38 Super. It is a great Round. I have been shooting it for 45 years and it always works.

Once again mentioned, the PX4.. IMHO Beretta's best gun ever made.. Now if they'd offer it with an alloy frame also.
