@@returnMarccoActually its Unix that is says everything and anything. I found a more detailed explanation on Quora Thanks "Becca Royal-Gordon" Is macOS essentially built on top of Linux? {In the beginning, AT&T created Unix. Due to monopoly laws, however, they weren't allowed to sell it. A lot of organizations licensed Unix and made their own variants; most were commercial ventures, but the University of California at Berkeley made a noncommercial version, called BSD. Meanwhile, Richard Stallman at MIT came up with an ideology of "free software"-more commonly called "open source" today-and started a project to create a "free" Unix-compatible operating system called GNU. Most of the GNU project went very well, but GNU Hurd, the core kernel component, was repeatedly delayed.* A young programmer named Linus Torvalds stepped in, starting his own successful project to create a kernel called Linux. When combined with GNU's tools, Linux provided a complete operating system that worked just like Unix, but had been written from scratch and licensed in such a way that it would remain open forever. Essentially, GNU and Linux are "knockoffs" of Unixes like BSD-very high-quality knockoffs, to be sure, but knockoffs nonetheless. All Unix variants-whether they're modifications like BSD or clones like Linux**-have small differences from each other; in practice, Linux is no more different than any other Unix variant. That isn't quite the end of the story for OS X, though. Just as Linux adopted GNU's tools but threw out its kernel, Darwin (the Unix part of OS X) adopted BSD's tools but threw out its kernel. If operating systems were families, OS X and Linux would not be the same person. They wouldn't even be siblings. They'd be cousins by adoption}

@@YourChannel-r4v That all makes sense. As with most people I'm not a computer nerd, and really do expect a computer, any computer, to be useful out of the box, just as with any tool. I think it is a realistic expectation. That's how they're advertised, in any case. And wasn't that Steve Job's vision with Apple, to make computers tools that anyone could use? A videographer wants to make movies just as a carpenter wants to make houses. I wouldn't expect a videographer to learn the complexities of tweaking Unix systems, just as I wouldn't expect a carpenter to learn how to forge hammers and nails. What seems funny to me is how Apple folks can't see beyond Apple. Yes they are amazing machines, no doubt. But for someone like myself they have limited useability. Simply because most of us don't have the time or inclination to do a bunch of complex tweaking to make them work in all circumstances. In Rolfe's case, he should have just got a PC for the tasks at hand so he could carry on with his project and not waste all that time trying to figure out how to make it work with a Mac. Or, hire someone who knows what they're doing to get it all working on his chosen platform, and teach him what's real so he doesn't run into those problems again.

The new ceiling light however is complicated to fix so they tie it to the new chandelier with rubber bands and...this chandelier isn't good for the bulb either, so you decide to dismantle the old one and use the old connections on the new one: To desolder the connections from the old chandelier it takes at least three days and to re-solder them and finally redo all the wiring, at least a week...ah, I forgot : Not even the old attachments were good so we proceeded to fix the adapter but in the meantime the elastics didn't hold up and the ceiling light fell so now we need some glue and...

Bonus solution. Install an HDMI capture device on your Mac. Use an HDMI active splitter on the PC. Plug one HDMI cable from the spliiter to the monitor, the other to the capture card. Play your PC Computer, and record on Mac. No screencap software needed at all.

This is mind-bogglingly overcomplicated. If he just learned how to edit a video in Windows, half of these "problems" would be solved. I've made videos in Windows Movie Maker, Da Vinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, and Sony Vegas with no formal training. I'll give him a pass on his complicated setup until like 2011. After that, with the wealth he accumulated to buy quality modern equipment and the accessibility of youtube tutorials: He probably should've streamlined all of his setup to not be so antique and clumsy.

James is the type of guy to say he has no time for anything and putting out a few low quality videos a month is a full time job to him because he's too busy doing things in the most overcomplicated way possible for no reason, and I'm wondering if he's really like that or if he's just doing it to fuck with the Screenwave guys at this point.

To be fair, I don't think this is new footage... I think its from 2012/13 or so. I think firewire was pretty much dead by that point, but I do rememeber reading that he still insisted on using some ancient 2007 version of Final Cut Pro... so he was probably using an out-of-date software on an out-of-date Macbook.... at that point it's only one more step to running Firewire cables across your basement while taking video footage by pointing a camera at a television screen.

man this still makes me laugh how ppl just figured out how james is stuck in the times and refuses to learn how to do stuff wayyy easier now than before he legit uses unorthodox methods that you would use if modern footage capturing software and hardware didn't exist like linking a camera to a DVDR and from that to a mac running an outdated version of final cut basically recording the footage twice, and the ironic part is he's doing this because back then when he was making movies as a kid and a teenager or in college, he explain in a video documenting the many home made movies in detail the many unorthodox and crazy ways he used to film subtitle and add music, and watching that video and this video, he's legit acting like its 1999 and we cant do this stuff with the click of a button. he's just stuborn and refuses to learn the most basic stuff a common trait among apple users
