Every boxers scared to go to a cage so they challenge mma guys to boxing matches now, know theyll win.. credit to tony though. Because no matter wat he had the balls to step in the cage and was a GREAT boxer and a legend... but its just that, in boxing.. As far as actually fighting. @@CraZyCatZDogZ a lot of this is pure bullshit. Most of the time, mma guys want to come to boxing for the payday and that's it. Boxers do what they do because it's just their sport and the really good ones will always get paid more so there is no need to switch.

James said "Fat, sloppy and scared. yeah, you tell 'em I said that". And I agree, he is a legend and second only to Mayweather jr. on the shoulder roll/ Philly shell. You could be on top oh him and swingin' with everything you got, and you still couldn't hurt him. If he conditioned as well as he did everything else he would of been top 5 all time at every weight he fought. As it is he held belts 6 times(one was taken away) and I think he only got knocked down once in a ton a fights. Definitely a legend.

All on different weight levels and all have different defensive styles. James Toney seemed to rely on the Philly Shell for defense while Canelo comes forward with head and waist movement. @@frizzyred1292 yea i agree. And the main excuse from holy was that he couldnt hold his jab hand up or it gets so heavy on his shoulder, i know he aint just making excuses cause he out right just quit using the jab after like round 3 or 4 and he later had a surgery on his shoulder. Still doesnt discredit james toneys work tho nobody had an easy nights work fighting holyfield but toney sure made it look that way
@ASSman864
@ASSman864 3 жыл бұрын
@@frizzyred1292 that fight was sad kinda the way holys corner threw in the towel but it was the right call i guess. Only way for holyfield to win at that point wouldve been by knockout and he had already hit james toney with some bombs and didnt even stagger him, plus everything holyfield tried to do james toney would avoid it and just counter right straight like clock work so there wasnt gonna be no display of holyfields pure heart just powering through and landing a big 7 or 8 punch combo he usually needs for the KO (at heavyweight atleast) So yea it wasnt as good of a fight as it could be but its holyfields fault really. Like when people discredit holyfields wins against mike they says "it wasnt prime mike" yea well thats mikes fault for accepting the fight. It wasnt prime holyfield either by any means 😂 to me prime holyfield was a cruiserweight and still had hair
@ASSman864
@ASSman864 3 жыл бұрын
@@frizzyred1292 so yea in summary i would have loved to see the best version of evander fight james toney, i feel holyfield working his jab couldve won it. Neither guy was knocking eachother out in my opinions two of the best chins ever, it wouldve came down to decision i think. But yea people need to give james toney his credit for that one. Riddick bowe can hold the title as the only man to beat holyfield twice but james toney can say he made him quit, even tho holyfield would not have quit, his corner threw in the towel

Always loved to watch James Toney back in the day, James Toney was a skilled fighter on the front or back foot and had one of the best chins in the game! Toney's relaxed style especially under pressure would fool many fighters into believing he was easy to hit, When Barkley tried to bully Toney and trap him on the ropes, Barkley spent most of the time hitting Toneys shoulder and elbows, While Toney skillfully slipped and rolled Barkley punches, and peppered him with upper cuts; and fast body to head combo's coming from all angles! James turned the tables many times on fighters, using his on point defense and inside game smarts! I am so glad to see James Toney passing on his great boxing I.Q to future prospects, props to James!
