More than good enough for street cars and looks great👍. With prep, technique, and pay attention to ambient temps, great results can be achieved with Rust-Oleum can paint. Nice. I almost picked satin blue for our repaint. My son and I just repainted his hunter green 95 Impreza to gloss navy blue on sides/ends, with pewter colored hammered hood, roof and hatch. We did it in the open sided carport! 😆 Took us 26 cans of paint but we did 5 coats dark grey on horizontal surfaces and 7 coats of blue on the sides, nose and rear. All we did was sand it twice with 150 grit by hand, cleaned, taped/wrapped, wiped down with mineral spirits and tack cloth and sprayed. Took us 4 full days worth of work, spread over a week. I learned cans of paint have shitty instructions that can mess you up. Always do the exact plan on scrap metal. First fender I used as test spray was fine until layer 2 of Clear coat. Then it wrinkled badly. This schedule worked the best for us. Looks very good for cans. Temp was between 50 and 70F while spraying, and humidity was 20 to 35%. All Rustoleum brand. Waited 10 to 15 minutes between coats. 10 in daytime. 15 at night. Navy Blue 2x - 1 coat. 2 coats navy blue Enamel. 4 coats Clear Enamel. Cost was about $235 in paints, as all are $6 to $11 a can now.

Question question when to change the color of your car do you have to change the registration and title?
@beamin034 жыл бұрын
In Texas we have that option when We register them i did this when i converted my motorcycle fairings to different color its very recommended incase a cop runs your plates and comes back a different color you will most likely get pulled over to verify info not a big deal, but if u don't wanna risk it its always best

Not a huge fan of rattle can matte jobs. I feel like it makes the tiger striping a lot more visible. With a gloss job, you can easily wet sand and buff to hide alot of those spraying imperfections.
@JamesDguy4 жыл бұрын
This don’t stripe easy when the temps are right. But not everyone has the same taste 🤷🏻♂️
@nathancollins58224 жыл бұрын
You can get a great job...if you put on enough paint with the proper weather. You just need to step back a bit on your final coat/coats. That will help blend it solidly. Just practice on some test panels to get it down.
@timborice224 жыл бұрын
Looks sick! What would you do about peeling clear coat? I can get most of it up by the edges of the peeling spots but there will be some spots further away, more center of the panel.

@sickvick834 жыл бұрын

I figured that sanding it down with 320 or 400 would be good enough.You really took it down to 600? You always say 'prep is the key',I thought that the paint wouldn't get a good 'bite' being that smooth. Thanks for the education! The finished job looks nice! Heck,scuff and spray those rims gloss black for a nice finishing touch.

Even 1000 grit wet sand paint sticks to but I only go that smooth if doing clear then wet sand clear to add more clear

Wet sanding let’s you save sand paper and 320 is my go to grit others have different methods but if you use 320 wet sand then go to 400 wet sand the paint has a smoother finish and less sand scratches in the final product
