Really glad you’ve done this James. Got into this band recently, absolutely loved their Deeper Than Holy EP. And I was wondering, how are they not big already? They should be. Kudos for you doing this, as it will expose them to a lot of Oasis fans that will enjoy this band. Nice one!

There was a Scottish band called the Pastels in the 80s, kind of shoe gaze wistful pop. Think the main guy was called Stephen Pastel.

Yesssiiii. But. Gotta be said...yes..some of the lads are very talented at what they do. Rhys plays the drums like that Ape in the Chocolate add. Ha. But. It is the consistency and disciplined practices. Rehearsing..Performing that makes them good.. ow.. and. They just Got It.

They remind me of the sort of bands my daughters then boyfriend sang and strummed a guitar with at college 15 years ago where he was "studying music.".......The same hair styles ...same type of clothes ....the same swagger ..lol .I went to one of his bands gigs and was talking with their "lead" guitarist and he explained how it killed him to have to dumb down his playing in this "indie " type band but the singer (a wanna be Liam Gallager with a very strong personality ) called the shots ...he was actually a really good player in the Joe Satrianni/van halen style and could play solo jazz style ...basically what a band like Pastel and the Oasis /Cast copy band he was knew about playing a musical instrument ...he'd forgotten. and moved on ..lol... So I did check Pastel out on youtube but was not impressed......the singers is no otis reading/steve marrott and the guitar playing is somewhat rudimentary beginners open chords with very simple fills from the other guy... ....it's probably because im getting old but i find since my taste in music has progressed into classical and jazz..i cannot enjoy listening to what seems like beginners who are only learning to play their intruments......I still will give my olds bands i liked back in the day (the jam oaisis , stone roses etc ) a spin but more out of nostalgia ...This probaby sounds like the rant of a grumpy old never has been who doesnt like this style of music ...but actually when done well its very enjoyable ....for example the songs you james have done while paying homage to your influences are very cleverly done ...witty lyrics and damm catchy ...and have great guitar playing in them...these lads could learn a lot from you James ...maybe you should give them lessons lol Theres some really accomplished players on KZbin Dave Simpson springs to mind who could blow these guys away and yet will never get the exposure that a band like this are getting....which is a real shame ... Still I enjoy your channel me been a jaded old git who is reasonably old enough to have seen the Jam and the Stone roses and the Las play etc play live and yet young enough to have seen loads of the for want of a better word Britpop bands Oasis, reef ,paul weller in his prime solo years ,cast ,shed seven ,gene .,echobelly pulp , blur ,the seahorses travis reef...the list goes on ....I didnt realise at the time that would be the last gasp of music been a big deal in our lives ..befare hanging up his Epiphone Casino to play (or attempt ) to play Jazz Joe Pass style on ibanez GB10 George benson jazz box....and becoming that guy who i never thought id become ...sad old git critising the young uns lol

Alright fella. The old guitarist was mint..No the new guitarist is mint.. he plats jazz style...and has toned stuff down.. they been together years.. but the old guitarist wrote most of the songs. He has left and now they are learning to write there own songs.. they are at the beginning..and.. if this is what they produce now. Well.. the future is bright. I figure. There is a lot of creativity to come from these. Pastel.
