Last time I gave some medication advice - this time some guitar care advice: toggle switches like on that Gretsch or Les Pauls are best kept in the neutral/center position when not in use. This is because in the up or down position they are pressing against a flexible piece of metal, that over years of remaining under tension can bend a bit and create a poor contact...it simply prolongs the life of the switch. For those who will want to criticize (I've heard these people exist on the internet), this advice was given to me by a master luthier of impeccable credentials. Good luck in your recovery, and you and your "lovely assistant" have a great dynamic - you are clearly great friends and that is why your marriage is so strong.

Respect for not showing your face, and focus on playing guitar instead for all these years, I'm still subbed to your old channel too. What's your favorite bootleg album of Hendrix? Maybe I'm a bit on eyed here, but can you name any bands that started in either the 60's or 70's and continued into the 80's and still sounded kick ass.... other than AC/DC ;)

Amazed at how alike our views are. Must be an age thing. Your reverence for Jimi and Duane. The English Beat. The Police/Seagulls show. The Fixx was excellent. Saw it at Foxboro. I think the "no need for lessons" has been helped dramatically by the internet. I took them as a kid and learning major and minor scales never made sense until I got to apply them to Rock and roll. Let it Bleed..but there are really so many. I'll take Dylan's Desire over John Denver and LZ 2 over Graffiti though. As brief as it is, the solo on "Hear my train a'comin" is the definition of guitar solo. Bollocks! 😀 And it's my right shoulder. Thank again for your lessons. Good evening. 👍

Excellent show, and best wishes on recovery. Jimi is quite the soloist, though I’d pick Bold as Love as his best. My real love for him is as a lyricist and arranger, and for his incredibly subtle manipulation of clean tones. Eddie Kramer is probably somewhat responsible for the tonal manipulations, though Kramer is so humble in interviews it’s hard to ascertain to what degree. (Though he does talk about adding the flange drum effect to the coda in Bold as Love). As for other great solos: Jimmy Page’s solo on the Earl’s Court version of Trampled Underfoot is pretty darn good, as is his play on Immigrant Song on the BBC sessions. Marc Ford’s lead work with the Black Crowes is stellar, too.

Ok do you really put Ernie ball strings on your Gibson acoustic guitars?
