This is exactly what I was searching KZbin for. This acoustic guitar gets blended in the mix so well that is very difficult to hear what they're doing this explains a lot. My father was a professional studio drummer and I can remember the discovery of acoustic guitar it was Glen Campbell and I remember asking the question so all you can hear is just a strumming part are the clicking part you can't really hear the the tones thus learning that the acoustic guitar is it is a rhythm instrument

Learned Jessica note for note right after it was released. Always played it in three piece bands. Never gave much thought to the rhythm guitar part. Always listened more for the B-3. Much over do respect for Less Dudek. Know he played the acoustic intro. Assuming he played the entire rhythm track as well? Thanks for the info. Also watched your video of you grilling your wife about her knowing your guitars. Such a task master you are. Lucky she has a good sense of humor. My wife would have smacked me in the head with one of them about the second or third guitar into it. Who knows in 30 years when you reach our age...maybe she will! LOL

This is old enough that hopefully..... no one will see it but you. i just wanted to thank you for all of your great videos, and to mention that due in some part to your instruction, I was inspired to seek out a local teacher. I've been taking theory/standard/slide guitar lessons for nearly a year now. It's going pretty well. I'm actually playing in an Allman Brothers cover band, a Grateful Dead cover band, and an acoustic Americana band. I'm not sure if links are allowed in these posts, but I'll try to post another comment with a soundcloud clip. Thanks again for all of your hard work and generosity. Mike

Sorry brotha, I did ask you for a lesson a little bit ago on another video. Totally get it. My job often makes me feel like a performing seal and it gets testy fast lol. I did ask for a song on Jackson Browne The Road as its just such a cool song would love to do it around a camp fire or something. But totally get that you may not want to do a lesson for it. No worries. I love spending a day on your videos. My fingers dont like it so much, but my skill levels do lol. Thanks for all you do.

Les Dudek was the other guitar player on this recording. He’s probably playing the acoustic. Les also plays all of the harmony lines with Dickey Betts. He claims ownership of the basic melody and arrangement of Jessica, though was not credited as a composer. Les is all over this recording and he deserves a lion’s share of credit for his contributions to what many consider the Allman Brothers (and Dickey Betts) greatest instrumental. I’ll take Liz Reed, but … that’s just me.

James, I've said it before, you just have an easy way about you that makes your videos fun to watch and learn from. So just think about all the positive comments and don't let one stupid comment get to you. Hey if I can just add something to this video, I think people will like this. There is a cool little intro to the Rhythm playing in the song. it goes like this... the first note being an E on the bottom string. 6/0, 6/3, 6/5, 5/0...play that quickly then start the rythem playing just the way you showed it.
