The way I always thought about it was Ganon is controlling Aganhim from the dark world to get him to open a portal so he could come through and conquer the light world.

Because the seal was weekend, Gannon was able to possess him and use him as a puppet. Had something to do with his desire for power that allowed Gannon to donit

I think it's a mistranslation. In the GBA version, I'm pretty sure Ganon refers to Aghanim as his puppet, not alter-ego. It's been awhile since I played it. The GBA version was re-translated to correct a lot of errors in the SNES version. I think Aghanim was a different person, and Ganon managed to corrupt him with promises of power if he unlocked the seal. So he unlocks the seal, Ganon possesses him, and off we go.

That makes a lot more sense than alter-ego.

So, is Ganondorf is his true form and that he brings out the demon Ganon/Aghanim in him?
@Zeldatheoristb211
@Zeldatheoristb211 7 жыл бұрын
Listener Canon Yes! Ganondorf is the Blue Pig Demon. That was the Ganondorf we knew from Ocarina of Time. He was mutated into that form when he acquired the Full Triforce from Link and Zelda. Then the Sages sealed Ganondorf, now a mutated Pig Demon in the corrupted Sacred Realm which is now the Dark World. Afterwards there is another War amoungst the people themselves! Because word got out about the Triforce and the magic powers behind it! So everyone wanted to make a wish and they were willing to kill anyone for it! Due to Ganondorf's influence in the Dark World, he created minature Portals in Hyrule which allowed other Hylians to accidentally go inside of the Dark World, which also mutated them into a Demon. Ganon then recruited them to be part of his army and attack Hyrule, because of which the Knights of Hyrule defended the land, but a majority of them died. Also, most of the Hylians were killed in this War, called the Imprisoning War or Seal War. Then the King of Hyrule in that generation, which takes place a few hundred years after OOT, ask a group of "new" Sages..*NOT* the same one from OOT, to seal the Dark World completely and don't let any Demon come out of there! a few hundred years after that event, Agahnim causes plagues and pestilence, in which he cured to trick the King and kill him, ALTTP takes place after that,

@Random1567
@Random1567 7 жыл бұрын
Nanbopally Heck no. Great controls, great level design, and the story and puzzles are purposely light because they aren't the focus of the game. Survival is. This is an overhead metroidvania, not an rpg. How the heck did you consider this an rpg? Most casual players who watch this video also probably don't know the extent of the dungeons you can do out of order in this game, too. It's largely open compared to most Zelda games today. It's a metroidvania overhead game, and the game isn't focused on puzzles. It's about survival/combat and enhancing yourself, light puzzles, light story and high exploration. This is what Zelda used to be about before it became obsessed with puzzles instead of survival. The puzzles are there just to give variety to dungeons and give you more things to do, not to be the focal point of the game. That wasn't until LA/OOT where the series made puzzles it's primary focus. Almost every item in this game is a weapon because combat and survival are the key element of this game besides exploration. It's like saying Mario sucks because the story sucks. That isn't what the game is trying to be. It's ridiculous how some Zelda fans try to attack the older games for 'weaker puzzles and story' when they were never focused on those aspects to begin with. ALTTP was keeping in line with what the original Zelda's focus was, not trying to be Ocarina of Time 2d edition.

In the manga of Legend of Zelda : A link to the Past they elaborate on Aghanim's background: he was the king's friend and he later betrayed him when he made contact with Ganon's spirit, who was giving him power and influencing him from the dark world, so no , he's not really Ganon, but rather was Ganon's puppet who was trying to help him fuse the world so he could come back to Hyrule.

I love the look on James' face when Mike completely misses the point he was trying to make on the Ganon- dark world plot hole. I think a simple explanation is that Ganon is incorporeal in the normal/light world, so he had to posses the boss you fight twice. Once you are in the dark world you find out it was Ganon pulling the strings all along. Alter-ego could have been a mistranslation.

I like to believe Ganon's conscience fled in to Aghanim while his physical form was sealed in the Golden Realm (Which possessed the Triforce of Power). In order to regain all his power and the ability to dominate Hyrule he needed to manipulate Aghanim in to destroying the barrier to the Golden Land so he can be reunited with his physical form AND have access to Hyrule (If he didn't care about Hyrule he wouldn't split up from his body). Or some such, I don't fucking know. Something vaguely similar happens in Twilight Princess. Another big flaw with Link to the Past is... why seal the ultimate evil dude in the Golden Land where the Triforce resides, without at the very least any guards to secure him or locking him up in that world etc.!? Alternative idea: Ganon hypnotizes a dude to do a series of tasks that result in him being freed. No possession or inhabiting a body in the Light World required.
@scatlinksean
@scatlinksean 7 жыл бұрын
Ganon couldn't escape the Sacred Realm with his physical form, so he seperated his spirit and possessed Aganhim so he BECOMES Ganon's Alter Ego, this way he can carry out his plan to break the barrier between the Sacred Realm and the Light World so he can possibly escape the Sacred Realm (now the Dark World) with his original form. But you cornered him into the Pyramid of Power before separating from Aganhim.

In the A Link to the Past manga Agahnim is given a backstory as a friend to Link's Father. He studied to become a magician while his friend trained to become a Knight of Hyrule. When Link's father told him the story of the Imprisoning War and the Triforce, Agahnim became intrigued and researched for ways to break the ancient seal. When Link's father confronted him about his investigations, he used his magic to trap Link's parents in the Dark World. He then struck a bargain with Ganon: he would undo the seal of the Sages and Ganon would grant him powerful magic. this is from the Zelda Wiki

I wonder what the Japanese version says about Aghanim and Ganon. I bet there was some kind of mistranslation or something that got left out of the English version that created that giant plot hole. I could see it being something like Ganon only had enough power to exist in a weakened form in Hyrule, via an avatar. I've seen stuff like that in stories before.

Ganon used Agahnim to try to brake the seal so he [Ganon] could come back with his full power restored. Ganon works through Agahnim like a devil works through a warlock.

Boris, you where right, but it was a two year difference before the Internet, I don't really think anyone stole the idea. Don't make a great game a ripoff if Dragonball, as your Dragonball is a rip off of Journey to the West and Superman.

great three-parter guys. It was inspiring. As a huge original zelda fan who never played this one, I went to my local retro game shop and paid top dollar for this one. I like that you didn't show too many spoilers so an old retro gamer can be lost in the woods with his un-tempered sword and have to figure it out for himself. keep up the good work!

Ok, this should end the whole is or isn't Ganon Agahnim. Agahnim is an avatar or Alter-Ego of Ganon, used by Ganon to infiltrate the Light World, so basically it is a body created by Ganon that he then possessed so he could operate in the light world.

@10:50 Alter ego is defined as A persons secondary or alternative personality, but is also defined as ****An intimate and trusted friend**** -- Agahnim was never Ganon at any point, and it couldnt have been ganon all along. Agahnim was a friend to links father, studying to be a magician while is his father trained to be a knight. While agahnim trained to be a magician he became interested in breaking the ancient seal. Links pop found out about his interest and Agahnim then trapped link's parents in the darkworld, leaving link with his uncle. Agahnim struck some deal with Ganon in the darkworld (using the same method Zelda used to communicate to link at the start of the game). Boom pang pow... Ganon is not Agahnim... in any sense.

If you have access to the Japanese video site NicoNico (you can create a login in English) there's an amazing playthrough of Link to the Past with no sword, no shield, and 1 heart by the player Terazou. He uses the sword only on the necessary bits like the vines but he does the rest with nothing but the other items and pure grit. In Japanese, but definitely worth the watch for fans of the game.
