Ancient Stone Tablets is SOOOO good. If you haven't played it, it will literally not take you longer than 4 hours, because it is timed and it can't. The team who made this happen was extremely dedicated. They had a partial dump of data, but it didn't include any of the dungeon layouts. They recreated all of the dungeons by watching a VHS recording that some Japanese kid had made way back in the day.

I know what it stands for, but I still like calling it "BS" with that intonation. Then again, I also laugh when I hear commercials for "TBS" and can't help the association. It's just a bad choice of acronym if you want people to take you seriously and not laugh about "BS" meaning what we all know it means.

Just want to say that LTTP is my jam. It's my 'the game' you know, the one that brings back feelings of nostalgia, the memories of my childhood, sitting in my small box room as an extremely poor child, with a half broken third hand snes and a copy of lttp I got with my saved up Xmas and birthday money. To this day the music still almost brings a tear to my 39 year old cheeks lol. Amazing game, my all time fav

Unfortunately, the most probable way Sekiban would get re-released is in some manner of reinterpretation, since there's almost certainly some issues with replicating the broadcast (we don't know if Nintendo has the master files. There may be contract disputes with either the seiyuu or the record studios that produced the arranged music. The time system was tailor-made for the Satellaview's context and seems weird in modern games.) I admit the idea of a remake that looks like Link's Awakening 3D sounds appealing to me, but it'd probably lose some of the charm much like the BS Fire Emblem maps being recreated in DS's Shin Monshou no Nazo.

BS Zelda was literally an early warning that Online Games are gone forever once the servers are closed down. Sadly most people in the western gaming world never noticed how very little of games preservation was thought about until it was too late for the industry to care about it.

This is why I hate online only games and dlc. they are forever lost if it weren't for emulation and modding, something that stupid game companies is trying to destroy because they think it's only for piracy or changing the author's original vision for the game.
@cabbusses

I once tried assembling an undumped list for the Satellaview. Unfortunately, it became overwhelming because of the sheer quantity of distinct broadcasts. Further compounding this issue is that some programs, like Satella-Q, were never locally stored, making preservation of them impossible without a Gigaleak-tier miracle.
@ChronoMoogle
@ChronoMoogle Жыл бұрын
The Stone Tablet episodes were in fact not recoverable from memory packs, since only parts of the games were stored on them that didn’t work on their own, the rest of the data stream went to the RAM and would be gone after powering off the console. The available ROMhacks are recreations from video recordings. Very good & faithful ones though!

It makes sense that they were working on another SNES Zelda game. Since LTTP came out in NA in 1992. They were still Making SNES games until 1996-97. PLUS Ocarina of Time wasn't out until 1998. So it'd make sense that in terms of development plans. There was gonna be/supposed to be another Zelda game on the SNES

Of course as i was typing the above comment i forgot about the OG Link's Awakening which did come out a year after LTTP. So in terms of development. There WAS another Zelda game. Made between LTTP & OOT. I keep forgetting about Link's Awakening because i was never really a fan of that game until a few years ago when the switch remake came out. Did play the DX version but didn't really like it either. Just a colorized OG??? LOL

I like the fact that Ancient Stone Tablets mentions how Link isn't in Hyrule -- which makes sense as he'd be doing the Oracle Duology and Link's Awakening during that time, as all three games were made to be direct sequels to LttP featuring the same Link. Despite its name, LBW features a different reincarnation of Link and Zelda and takes place several generations later, as many LoZ games feature different reincarnations of them.

Comparing fan mods of LttP to something that existed long before said mods did is rather unfair. Not to mention many ideas for gameplay tweaks in fan mods come directly from Sekiban's engine (Probably most notably Pegasus Boots that allow 90-degree directional turns, a boon for using them to travel distances quickly.)

Apologies for long text. I've played nearly all of the Zelda games and I must say A Link to the Past will always be my favorite. I truly loved it's story and especially being able to upgrade the Master Sword. When I was younger I had always hoped for a sequel and while I never knew of this title I was excited for Between Worlds as it added more lore to ALTTP. What I'd honestly like would be a game set in Lorule like set in the time that their triforce was destroyed. As well as another prequel but at the very beginning of Lorule. I honestly hate the 3 Zelda timelines as most games almost never go into the Ganon won line. Queu ALBW and we now have a new realm with new lore and I guarantee it'll never be touched. Dont get me wrong I know the kid Link line is pretty much the main line and of course it'll be continued indefinitely but I just wish they'd share more for other titles. Obviously Ancient Tablets and Between Worlds were made due to ALTTP's popularity so why not do more for it since it's the main one of the Ganon line that's gettin any remote love.
