Great work Jim ! It never ceases to amaze me how people will spend a quarter just to save a dime ! He should have listened to you and put a new compressor in to start with like you suggested.

those micron gauges are very good expect for the way the senor mounts into the plastic vibration or movement can give inaccurate reading. thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with us I always enjoy your videos.

Hi Jim, just a obserbacion for loading and adjusting coolant, should be thoroughly clean both condenser and evaporator, so that they were more actual readings of superheat and subcooling. Otherwise very good job. Best regards from Hermosillo Mexico.

You can calibrate those micron gauges by putting them into zip lock bag and placing in freezer. There are directions on Bluvac website. Great job as always. Thanks for the videos!!

If you scroll down to where it says calibration you will see calibration procedure. Seems a lot like a Blu vac to me. I don't know. Maybe you're right. yellowjacket.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/eVac-Pro-Manual1.pdf

next time you put on a high limit, put it on the cooler side of the high side, namely the liquid line, with a swivel tee you could at your option install a loss of charge pressure switch if you wished to do so, or use the vacant side of the tee ass a side to charge or trouble shoot. Rarely do I use a single port tap when the spare comes in so handy.

Jim, really enjoy your videos... many of the regular KZbin posters are good but really enjoy / learn from you and the Grey Furnace Man...Can you share a video on how you tapped into the disconnect to get power for your tools... think that would be a good KZbin to share...

nice job Jim, after some warranty claimed compressors goodman did start putting hp/lp in their units from the factory. do you think the freeze-stat will be ok outside? store like that do run ac even in a colder ambient and on cold nights it may stay off till it will warm up (may take a few hours because it's insulated) this is just my thought. thanks for the video.

Nice work Jim, I know ur buddy is gonna hate to see u go lol.. hey since the valves in the compressor broke, you don't have to treat it like a burn out? Flush lines out, and new juice? Just wondering. .

Did you ever have the old OZ Saver reclaimer that would subcool with a flip of two valves? Loud and heavy but effective.

But I got to ask you Jim, How did you break the Fluke meter? I've owned a lot of Flukes but never have broken one like that nor have I ever seen one broke like that . Just Curious. When you reclaim the freon into a tank, if you put the freon back into the system the tank will not be back into a vacuum state. If you need to use the tank for some other type of freon, can you just put the tank into a vacuum (there should not be much gas if you brought it near 0 in pressure? When you get a tank back when you have it reclaimed, is it in a vacuum state and can it be used for a different gas, or do you have to pull a vacuum on it again or....? I have watched many videos and it has never been mentioned. Just questions I have had. Thanks for your videos. Have a nice week.

Why is there frost building up on the evaporator? Shouldn't you have it set up to maintain a temp above freezing?

Did you use the reclaim pump to put the gas in and empty the tank down below the suction line pressure or how would you empty the last portion back into the machine? Thanks again for answering my questions.

Why is there no accumulator before the compressor? Also the pressure limit switch should be standard, why is it not there?

Thanks for the video. Is a propane torch good enough for the soldering work? Does it need oxygen gas?
@cutabove90466 жыл бұрын
I'm curious if you ever tried using stay-brite 8 on all the connections in a system instead of braising?
@hvac014538 жыл бұрын
Reclaimers since about 2000 recover slow and unable to cool the gas without a water tank to cool the gas.

Hey Jim, let me ask a question, I know you used the stay brite 08 in places where will be damage too much heat, right? so can we use the stay brite 08 for brazing the pipe in the service valve ( in the condenser unit)?
@JamesPettinato8 жыл бұрын
sure
@hvac014537 жыл бұрын
Problem!!! as you can see from the video, oxygen is in the system comming through the schraeder, when Nitrogen is flowing, you will have a steady stream of smoke, no standing flame on the schraeder. you have no flow on that piping during the braze… If you try nitrogen purging with standard nitro gauges and a manifoldgauge set, not a flow meter, it will stop (the flow) many times because its not designed to have low flow. If the flow is too much and begins to pressurize the tubing, it will sometimes cause a leak. This pisses of the tech and then its brazed without N. Just saying….

The Stay Brite is 8% silver ? Does it flow more like soft ( tin / lead ) solder ? As compared to a 15% hard silver solder / brazing stick ? You use a flux with it ? Thanks , Wyr God bless
@JamesPettinato8 жыл бұрын
+Wyr Twister yes it flows like soft solder, the flux the yellow flux made by Harris, it comes in a red and white container, thanks

I have a Goodman CPLJ36-1A and was told the compressor was locked up. Since it is a 2004 model and R22 i've been told that the system needed to be replaced. I would like to replace the compressor if possible (and find out why the compressor failed) instead of buying a complete new system. Any advise?
@JamesPettinato7 жыл бұрын
the unit is 14 yrs old, they make them cheap, it would be best to replace it, you get all new parts and a 5yr warranty on the compressor
@2vsixstudios867 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice!

Bubba Gump I'm going to have a vacuum pulled on it to see if there's any leaks and go from there.

Hey Jim have you used any 407c to top off a r-22 system that's say a lb. low. Your thoughts Please! Thanks
@JamesPettinato8 жыл бұрын
no way ! 2 different chemical formulas, just take thew R22 out and charge with R 407c

your theory is incorrect with slugging .. that's not the reason the compressor failed.. yes an iced up coil will cause slugging.. but don't forget this is a dome compressor and they with stand a huge amount of slugging.. what really happen is a lack of lubrication.. which is usually caused by the high side..
@raganoheatingacinc.46439 жыл бұрын
Is R-407c a replacement for R-22?. Does it use the same oil?
@arniegrote3199 жыл бұрын
+Ragano michael You can use it if the compressor has Polyolester oil in it.
@nitavixen9 жыл бұрын
+Ragano michael - you can use 422D. Drop-in...... 30% less charge than R22.
