A little sad you watched the sequel first, but now you can watch Mask of Zorro as a prequel! Zorro and his horse Tornado are the OG Batman and Batmobile. The horse(s?) who play Tornado are some of the most charming horses in cinema and bring a lot of humor to the drama and action.

In some tellings of the origin, the Wayne's were walking out of a Zorro movie when they were gunned down. That's why this has a big Batman vibe to it.

Also took me a minute to figure out why I had some extra feelings towards this antagonist - he's the asshole in A Knight's Tale, which is another underrated gem if you haven't seen it yet - the startings of a Joker, a King, and a Vision, to put it coyly.

The train crash at the end was an extremely beautiful model. There are behind the scenes stuff about it. I believe it was Weta that did it. They built out the desert, the train and all. Loaded it with det-cord and gasoline and in one take with like 8 cameras running, blew the hell out of it.

The sequel is entertaining regardless of the fact if it lives up to the first one or not. The best Zorro stuff to watch is still the classic tv show from the 50s! I still go back to watch that to this day.

The black and white one? If that’s it, I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid! It would come on very late at night/early morning on Disney channel and I lived for that show. I was probably like 10-12 and saw pretty much every episode, memorized all the names and everything lol

I was about to comment how this Zorro inspired both Puss in Boots, and Captain Jack Sparrow, then saw the date and started questioning my memory, not realizing this was the sequel! Moving on - I love Catherine Zeta-Jones in these movies, and was reminded of my enjoyment of her performance in Entrapment around the same time w Sean Connery - worth a look!

Nitroglycerin can be made as a byproduct of soap with the right chemicals added.. The first movie in this series has one of the best storytelling swordfights put to film to date. Also in my list of top favourite swordfights. One of the best swordfights though is at end of the movie Shanghai Knights. Well worth watching the film just for that.

Great mix up. This is actually a really fun movie... even if the 1st is even better. This holds up, tells its story, does it well, has some excellent action, a villain you love to hate, and man does it feel good when he gets punched in the face. The cinematography is excellent, the choreography for the fights is well done. The camera isn't all over the place so you can follow what's happening. They do some really fun things with the camera. That opening transition from quiet inside the church to outside in the crowd and up on the crane is really good and just sets the tone for the whole film. You really gotta watch the 1st one now. It's so very good. And has some amazing names in it.

Zorro is one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, masked, secret identity vigilante heroes. The first novel was published in 1919. The first movie was “The Mark of Zorro” released in 1920.

For many years I have always loved this character. Zorro is the original caped crusader. Period. I absolutely love BATMAN. But the elements came from the legendary ZORRO. Btw I loved both movies. I just love the first film 🎥 I lil bit more than the second act. The adventure and story telling of this series is phenomenal. DIrector Martin Campbell strikes GOLD again with this legendary character. Campbell is also responsible for origin reboots like IAN FLEMING'S JAMES BOND 007 CASINO ROYALE and GOLDENEYE.

The best known versions of the character were portrayed in film, by Douglas Fairbanks Sr in the original silent film in 1920, The Mark of Zorro, with a sequel in 1925. Then in 1940, by Tyrone Power in the film of the same name. Previous to the Anthony Hopkins/Antonio Banderas more modern versions. The 1940 film is rated the highest.

There's no reason this movie should be as good as it is. I mean it's based on a cheesy black and white series from the '60s. But somehow they managed to make it into something that's an absolute blast. We need more Antonio Banderas.

Yea man Mask of Zorro is much better. Fyi, the original Zorro from 1919 inspired the creation of Batman! When Bruce Wayne's parents were leaving the movie theater and eventually killed, they were watching The Mask of Zorro! And Zorro himself was inspired by Joaquin Murrieta, a Mexican bandit, but with a big heart because like Robin Hood he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. He was eventually caught, killed, and beheaded. But his legend lives on 👍

You can’t do an action month a not do a Korean action thriller. Since the 2000s some of the best action films have come from there. They are genre bending movies but action in it’s through line, they even helped inspire many fight scenes from John Wick. I highly recommend the underwatched “A Bittersweet Life” a very good action film! Or you could do more famous one like “I Saw the Devil” which stars the same actor Byun-Hun Lee and by the same director. The director also has slow action comedy “The Good The Bad and The Weird” which has amazing set pieces! It’s a homage to spaghetti western. That also stars the great Byun Hun Lee and also Kang Ho Song. There’s so many great Korean action to do and you’ll see how different they are. ‘Bittersweet Life’ is slower paced and introspective and ‘The Good The Bad The Weird’ is fast paced action with great humour!
