I’ve long thought that Cristo Fernández, Dani Rojas from Ted Lasso, should be the next Zorro! I was surprised to see him playing an earlier version of Zorro in the new series, but he’s in it very briefly and it’s a total waste of his talent and charisma. He could play Antonio’s grown son, or just Antonio’s recruit. I think he’d a joy in the role. Also, I really think George Hamilton needs to make cameos in all Zorro movies. Maybe just in the background as an attractive old man in a cantina with a perpetually broken leg who’s always seen chatting up a woman. However, in every other appearance he’d have to play a garishly dressed old man who’s chatting up other men.

Though, yes, Tom Holland would be all wrong for Zorro specifically, he could probably do really well with a swashbuckler. I can see Banderas's logic, even if he was overlooking the blatantly obvious.
