People with oily skin should go for BHAs instead of AHAs for exfoliation, because the effect of AHAs r good only for the dry skin types.

@@anjanakarki6778 apple cider vinegar works really well for breakouts. Just mix equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar together and apply them on your face witha cotton pad. If you use it for 3 months, you will get rid of hyperpigmentation... guaranteed👍

I can't stress how important those tips are!! Half through 2018, I started incorporating all of those habits into my skin care routine and I used to have *really* oily skin but now it's more towards combination/normal! Man, I remember running to the bathroom in 6th Grade during every single break to blot my face. Now I'm super confident and I learned to looove moisturizers, sunscreens and oils. Thanks for sharing this, James xx

@@Piecesoftheshadow I know it's late, but if you're still trying to find sunscreen, maybe you could try cosrx aloe soothing sun cream or biore aqua rich watery essence. both work well on my combination skin and doesn't make it oily. just keep in mind that they do contain alcohol. though my friends and I never experience any breakout from using them. biore has lighter texture so it doesn't feel/seem like you're putting anything afterwards. I personally like the cosrx one, kinda gives my face satin finish

For my oily skin, I found that using heavy moisturizing toners and topping it off with sunscreen or lighter moisturizers (such as gels) is the way to go! The heavier the moisturizer, the oilier I become. To make up for the hydration that my light/gel moisturizer can’t accomplish, the toner does!

Just be careful with it. It has silicone. Silicones leave a film over the skin and over time can prevent other skin care from penetrating and clogging pores. Silicones aren't usually bad but in skincare can be detrimentally.

@@gootsycollins3046 I thought the saying was 'good black don't crack?' Idk, I heard it on an episode of Hell's Kitchen lol. Imo Asian people probably age the best... I think caucasian people, especially those that live in warmer climates like most of the US or Australia, tend to age a bit faster because our skin wasn't built to thrive in sub-tropical or desert climates and we go most of our lives without applying sunblock. People mostly from central and north/north-western Europe (i.e. Anglo, Nordic, Celtic, Germanic, some Slavic people etc.) come from a place with dark cold winters and sunlight can be very scarce, so our skin needs to be much lighter to naturally absorb things like vitamin D.

I almost never break out now. I use layer after layer of products now! I double cleanse, tone with Missha Moisture essence, then use "Buffet" from the Ordinary, then vitamin C serum, then Merula/Rose Hips oil then.......seal it in with CeraVie Moisturizer (no fragrance). I also find the process very relaxing.... thanks James! XO

You're right! By hydrating, your skin won't have to go overdrive to produce oil due to the lack of moisture and hydration. Although if you're naturally oily it will help reduce your oiliness! Embrace your oily skin guys, you'll look much better than your dry skin counterparts once you turn 30 or 40.

My skin type is 100 percent oily. Besides it being oily, it's also sensitive with a bit of rosacea. I use the cerave face wash for oily skin, olay face lotion spf 30 for sensitive skin and a ceramide night time face lotion. It's helped my skin a lot! Now using my matte foundation from Maybelline, I'll stay matte for about 4 hrs and my natural oils start sleeping through. I just blot a bit on the nose and forehead with tisue and leave the rest to look naturally dewy. You've got to work with what you got!

I’ve got oily skin, and since I started adding moisturizer to my skincare routine, I’ve had less break outs and have the right skin balance. But since I have Rosacea too, my dermatologist told me not to use moisturizer as this causes bacteria to grow. My skin does not feel as hydrated just using a water based moisturizer alone. At night I have to add another slightly thicker moisturizer just to get the moisture I need. Then some nights, also my medicated ointment on top....

Best remedy for oily skin... I had been suffering from extreme oiliness on my face .. i used each and every thing but a big no.. Just take some drops of lemon into your palm mix it with some water and them put it on your face overnight... Do it only at evening or night time ..no for day time.. If you have acne then just add more water in the drops of lemon . Thats it . If you have very oily skin then use it daily for 3 days then use it with a day gap . Otherwise your skin will be become dry .. hope it'll help you..

The 1/2-1 teaspoon of sunscreen number was calculated using the top percentile for men's faces, so most women actually don't need that much sunscreen. You can calculate how much sunscreen you really need by measuring your face and then applying 2 mgs per square centimeter, but that's quite tedious :/

Hi! Im an oily girl and just got into hydrating products i.e Hada Labo lotion and Perfect Gel. The thing is, my skin gets REALLY oily after using these products but then again i can tell my skin texture is getting smoother! I just have to blot it away (James says it’s bad ik). Is this the phase James is talking about? Your skin adjusting to the hydration? James says that it took him abt 6 months. So should i just stick with these products? 😅

I have super oily skin too, I used clean and clear as a teen too and the harsh astringents, god they dried my skin out and it became like oily dry sandpaper lol. All got better when I stopped using anything harsh on my face. Only cream cleanser then hyaluronic acid. Now my skin is amazing and never oily! :) I only wash my face once a day.

I found toners and moisturizers that suit me but I am yet to find a good sunscreen. The product itself must be great cuz they work amazing for my mom and friends, but on me they just look greasy. I tried neutrogena (my face hated it) , matte zinc suncream from requil ( greasyyy) and isntree hyaluronic acid sunscreen. The last one is good if I skip moisturizer. I'm at a loss lol. My takeaway from this video: in the morning before college, il use rice water toner then put on sunscreen. Il try for a month and check.
