I just can’t imagine why anyone would think some of those name brands would suddenly be selling their products for 25% of the price on tik tok or temu

i could imagine it’s kinda like clothes - they’re all manufactured in the same warehouses and shipped to different stores. for example: ross dress for less sells american eagle jeans for way less than american eagle does. idk much about skincare and i could be wrong this is just a feeling i have but maybe they’re produced in the same warehouses and then shipped out to different stores?

My best guess for Amazon [can't speak for the already sketchy websites like TEMU and Wish] I think it's that they use that argument that online platforms use to avoid responsibility for people posting racist/sexist/etc content. "Well that's not US though, THEY did that, not US. Punish THEM." kind of dealies ... but also probably that that Market of fakes has gotten so big Amazon only sees the $$$$$$$ rolling in. Like how a certain website still lets places like 5Minute Crafts exist with their literally fake and dangerous content because their massive viewership farms make too much money for this certain website to enforce it's own rules. Like if you got on Amazon and sold these dupes you'd probably be gone by the 1st report - but these other "retailers" are probably just too big.

I tend to purchase directly from the brand, which I think is best (Brand site always has coupons, specials, etc.). Otherwise, I only purchase via a trusted retailer, I.e., Sephora, Ulta, Credo… Why take a chance on crappy products that may use questionable, or dangerous, ingredients when you can buy the real thing? Much like fast fashion, I think people lose sight when they see a low dollar value. I do understand that the ability to purchase quality products is a privilege; however, there are great products available at a very low price point, especially if you buy directly from the brand.

Some may be trying to copy ingredients, where others are just packaging fragranced lube. I did try buying several mascaras that were obvious dupes from Temu. They were ALL not worth the money. Not sure how well known this is, but at least in the U.S. you can (if licensed) work with a lab for your skin care products and label them with your name. This usually works fine for most estheticians because it's not terribly likely you are using the same line as someone else in your town when you are white labeling (using your name on the product). However, there are also national brands that do this, and Paula's Choice is one. She did not formulate it but she did choose it, and hence the clever name. There's a correlation to make-up people are probably more familiar with - BH Cosmetics and Coastal Scents were exactly the same source - even the same palettes sometimes (color, packaging). The problem is that if you know the lab you can order and repot products into containers that look very similar to a well known brand without the lab being fully aware. Of course, the efficacy is then affected because it was repotted, and also the safety because it's not original packaging. Honestly, that is what I would be more terrified of - even if repotted in a clean way, that product will start to degrade the moment it is opened. If you buy from Paula's Choice, you know the first time it was opened was when you received it - anyplace else, and that could have been repotted a year ago.

I had a horrible experience with Amazon, bought what I thought was the Wishful serum. Turned up unboxed and unsealed. I complained and asked for a refund and they wanted it back to resell. 😬 I threw it in the bin to save someone else getting it. Could have been tried out and sent back 10 times before I got it. Disgusting 🤢

Them wanting it back doesn't mean it'll be resold though. It's just to prevent people from making claims to get free stuff. It's pretty simple business logic.

@@nataliekillian5760 They actually stated in one of their messages to me that they wanted it back to resell. 🤢x

I got duped with the Round Lab sunscreen from Amazon too. When I got it, threw it to recycle immediately and ordered another one from YesStyle.

That CosRx snail mucin line is so distinct you would definitely know that is a fake if you ever used the real stuff. Every time I put the all in one cream on I have to press my hands together and watch the "strings" form. I don't know why lol

I have bought some creams off of TEMU...the ones for face are not good, I end up using face creams on my feet, or for hand cream...most of them have ingredients that clog my pores and give me little white face bumps. They work pretty good as body or foot moisturizers...

I'm glad you mentioned that bit at the beginning about the misconception that all chinese manufactured goods are shit or even dangerous. Granted, its understandable as China was one of the first countries in the modern era to have been exploited/contracted by companies globally for their cheap labor (nowadays India, Pakistan, Vietnam are in similar boats) and coupled with mass production there will be a risk of lack of quality control. But yes, it is irritating to see people knock any product they see as made in china to be inferior or made unsustainably, as there are millions of factories and chains of production and many that are not slave factories or whatever. China lately has actually made a lot of changes to their production esp in the realm of fashion and beauty goods, domestic shares of items like perfume, make up and skincare, and luxury clothing are on the rise as it is a very profitable market with lots of young people in china choosing to spend in these areas other than say real estate or something. And any domestic product (made in china and then sold in china) are now cruelty free as well, but foreign products that sell in china still might have to do animal testing. So chances are that chinese serum uve never heard about is cruelty free while "reputable" korean products sold in china (which is a LOT) aren't cruelty free. Makes you think!

I tried a foundation from Temu and was impressed but I don't feel their skin care would be any good at all. I'm glad you didn't get them on your gorgeous face James. One never knows where these faulty products are truly coming from. Cheap isn't necessarily worth it ❤

Am glad you spoke about the misconception about Chinese made products. The reality is most Chinese people don't use these products. They have their own brands, which are amazing. They don't shop on Temu, Wish or Aliexpress.

I did get some lipgloss from shien and 2 powder blush they are so nice my first order contained 10 things I was so disappointed most of things were broken like a cute vintage mirror and the cup was supposed to come with a straw the second order I was so showed the quality of most things was soo good , I was like ok that’s a bit wiered because everything was so cheap I am impressed the best quality stuff like a pair of pants and bag were also the most expensive
