No it’s not…….AT ALL. (Perhaps for a small minority?) We knew we weren’t competitive and that he arguably deserved to move on. I think many (not all) could have even forgiven him if he decided on Arsenal early (for supposedly schooling reasons I heard, or just UCL and success etc) and got Spurs a bumper payout. What stuck the most was the lies, promises, ad then going for nothing. Then acting like he was a victim and it was a surprise. Bafflingly dumb.

Anyone who's an adult and a Spurs fan has to be realistic, and most of us are. It was painful to see him go to Arsenal, but we were not going to offer him the success a player of his calibre deserved at the time. The main issue is he went for a free transfer and all the stuff that was said afterwards. Granted he did apologise but I'm not sure he really understands there's a way of doing things. Pat Jennings played for both teams, no one treats him the same. Because Pat Jennings is class all round.
@61svenАй бұрын
Campbell had come through the Spurs youth set up, he was our captain, the most popular player at the club whose name was sung at every game. He was on a free and had his choice of the very best teams in Europe. He made his choice and slapped the face of every single Spurs fan who had worshiped him. He made a lot of money and won trophies but he could have done that at other clubs and not betrayed people who loved him. Actions have consequences. Never forgive and never forget.
@abrahamwong93825 күн бұрын
Sol Campbell was a beast for Gunners, won at least one trophy in his first four seasons there, almost made it five seasons in a row, started in the Champions League final, his first game since his long term injury, gave us the go ahead goal, marshalled the defense tremendously well, and we were only ten minutes away from winning the Champions League, a legend for Gunners for sure
@spyrytaraxalass2 ай бұрын
Good to see people talking about Football who actually "get it" where this is concerned. Most of the time you just see people who either don't know what actually happened, or else they pretend not to understand it so that they have an excuse to rip into Spurs fans as if we're the ones who are in the wrong.

You clearly don't know much about North London football. Figo wasn't local, hadn't come through the Barca system, wasn't even Spanish. He hadn't spent months lying to the fans. He didn't screw Barcelona out of a transfer fee. In fact Real paid a world record for him. And 'El Clasico' isn't even a true local rivalry. It's 300 miles from Barcelona to Madrid ffs. In North London it's a 4-mile bus ride. Just because Barcelona fans are mental, doesn't mean Figo behaved worse than Campbell. There's no comparison.
@AxeDharme2 ай бұрын
@@spyrytaraxalass Correct, el Clasico isn't a local rivalry, it's a national one. It's literally Catalunya vs Castilia- Barça the symbol of Catalan independence and identity against the oppressive dictatorship aided Madrid. Granted, today it's not really any of that with the commercialisation and globalisation of it but back then it still meant something. Um, what? Figo absolutely did lie to the fans lmao, he kept denying any and all allegations of his move to Madrid and simply blamed Perez playing everyone for his own gains. Till the very end he kept reassuring the Cules that this whole transfer rumour saga was Perez trying to bump his election publicity. Madrid and Barcelona is literally a top of the table rivalry, league titles being swapped back and forth between the clubs more often than not. Spurs and Arsenal battled for a league title when exactly? How many times? It's just a local rivalry with territorial feelings, nothing else. Barça vs Madrid has (or well had) national, political and identity fervour.
