A few comments: 1. The time between the whistle for the foul and Trossard kicking the ball away was less than a second. Trossard was already mid-kick when the whistle was blown. It doesn't matter where Trossard was kicking the ball; he was clearing it. 2. This incident happened 8 minutes into a 6 minute stoppage. Opta tells us that this game had one of the highest times with the ball in play, so where did 6 minutes come from? Where did the extra 2 come from? 3. Dermot Gallagher's job is NOT to correct referees, but rather to protect them. He's the Kellyanne Conway of the PGMOL, lying and spinning the truth every time he opens his mouth. He's an absolute disgrace to the game, and Sky are a disgrace for giving him a platform to gaslight us every week. 4. Oliver's hypocrisy goes well beyond this 1 incident. This is the same ref who turned a blind eye to 2 straight red card fouls to Kovacic in the reverse fixture last year. His reasoning for bot brandishing a 2nd yellow for 2 red card worthy fouls last year was that he didn't want to negatively impact the game. But when an Arsenal player follows through kicking a ball as he blows his whistle for a foul 8 minutes into an already ridiculous 6 minutes of stoppage time, he suddenly can't wait to get his cards out? 5. Prior to refereeing the reverse fixture last year, Oliver was paid £20k to referee 1 game in Dubai (more than 13x what he's paid in the PL). He was paid by City's owners. He then failed to send off Kovacic for two BLATANT red card challenges, with Kovacic already on a yellow. He's clearly crooked AF. 6. After receiving money from City's owners, and then making two INARGUABLY INCORRECT calls in their favor last year, the PGMOL appointed him to this game this year? Clearly, the PGMOL is crooked AF as well. Even if Oliver wasn't bent, any legit organization would never have let him ref either of these games simply because of how shady it looks. Stop letting these crooked scumbags gaslight you. They consistently make contentious calls that always penalize certain teams and reward others. Oliver is the same guy that ignored Doku's karate kick vs Liverpool last year, ignored a blatant handball by City vs CHE in the Cup semi-final, and once sent off Martinelli for 2 fouls in 1 play, something that's never happened before or since. They then trot out their "experts" every week to tell us why we're wrong and they're always right. They use doublespeak to justify whatever call they want. If they want to give a penalty, it's "any contact on the player is always going to be a foul", but if they don't want to give it, it's, "there's not enough contact there to justify the player going down". Don't listen to their lies. The ball's been kicked away 100 times this season, but it's only resulted in like 4 cards. This is what they do: they pick and choosevwhich rules to apply and when. Then, when you complain, they say things like, "well, it's a foul by the letter of the law", but refuse to comment on the 99% of the time where they don't apply that law. Do you honestly think it's a coincidence that 2 of those were 2nd yellows for Arsenal? Remember, this is the same team that got cheated vs Newcastle and cheated vs Brentford. They lied about the Veltman incident as well, gaslighting us into thinking he was attempting to take a free kick. If you were trying to take a quick free kick, would you first kick the ball forward into an opposing player? Go look up the image that shows the full field. There's literally NOBODY he could possibly be kicking that ball to! The furthest forward BHA player is 15 yards within his own half, walking back towards hos own goal! The PGMOL have been gaslighting the fans FOR YEARS, and it annoys me how many people believe them! Veltman's entire plan was to kick Rice unfer the guise of a free kick. He'd already thrown Trossard to the ground well after the ball was out of play, and took out 2 Arsenal players with fouls in a different play. Martinelli would have gotten carded for both, but Veltman didn't get carded for ANY of his attempts to injure. Any neutral observer who sees that incident knows that Veltman was targetting Rice there.

This is the thing. All the pundits that have wayed in on it are not taking in to account the position of the foul. Exactly like the Veltman/Rice incident. They all seem to leave out that one critical piece of information and then say "by letter of the law". By letter of the law the ball must be made dead and played from the exact spot of the foul.

Was any city player supposed to be involved at all with that ball ? That was not City's free kick. When ref blows a foul against your team, it takes away all your rights to touch the ball. The movement of that ball should be between Arsenal's players and the ref. The only reason why Doku or any other players will get involve is to delay restart.

Yeah good point, Walker was too slow getting back to his position, no other City player covered for him in picking up Martinell's and no City midfield/forward covered Calafiori's run. I mean bloody hell - why didn't the Oliver stop them!! And the frigging cheek of Calafiori to beat your goalkeeper from outside the box - something you failed miserably to do with no end of shots from outside the box, in the 2nd half, against Arsenal's 10 men.
