I’m watching bc I moved to a new city and I’m trying to build a clientele. I’m offering free services right now because I’m wanting to build a Instagram page from scratch but it’s not to new clients, Only for my clients who have spent soooooo much money with me over the years. no new people though. And they know I don’t play with free stuff or discounts. So it’s like a treat for them and allows me to get new pictures and videos. But now I’m trying to figure out how to get new people in!

Thank you for posting this video! I have been doing hair since 2011. I changed salons twice and lost 99% of my clientele. Worked at another salon for a year and a half then decided to go chair rental with maybe about 25 steady clients. Definitely not enough clients to actually make money. It has been 6 months of chair rental and I have maybe gotten 2 new clients. I have been thinking about quitting hair because I dont want to go back to commission styling after making so many sacrifices. My entire 9 years has been doing every bad thing you have said; discounts, free services, asking for referrals etc. and for some reason everyone that inquires about my price says it is too much even though I charge the same as everyone at the last salon I worked at. I have yet to fully try Instagram because I don’t really know how to use it up this is my last hope so I will give it a try!

Wow I really needed this today. I just went back into the salon after being home raising 5 kids over a 16 year time period. Feeling like giving up since I’m literally paying to work right now 😢 with 5 kids I can’t afford to pay to work and I also don’t have anything else I’m qualified to do so I’m feeling very defeated. Word of mouth is the best way to build , let your clients you love know that you are looking for clients just like them ❤also while you are doing there hair ask them how often you come in what is the lifestyle like and ask at the end if they would like to rebook . Always try and prebook , there are some clients that won’t and that’s ok . But most important is Customer service ! Treat clients amazing they will return . Patience as well .
