Zoro's actor is a really famous in Japan. The sword fight video is Ruro ni Kenshin, which is one of the most successful live action anime all time in Japan. His yonger brother is also a actor and played Mituya in Tokyo Revengers live action.

Oda is the one, chose this cast. So, i believe in Oda sensei It doesn't need to be perfect. It doesn't need to copy the anime/manga, they can go different route of the story. Change a little bit of the story. I just want the cast to act like the characters they are portraying The cast looks good. Now i can't wait for the other cast to play other characters such as Shanks, Arlong, Don Krieg, Robin, Koby, Franky, Buggy, Mihawk and etc

Only issue is you can't really change OP in little ways because if the show ends up being good enough to keep going those little changes will literally ruin major plot points later on. Kinda like how Zoro's who backstory was changed in the anime just slightly and now it's all sorts of messed up in Wano.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There's just absolutely zero chance if did everything one for one it would be successful as a live action TV Show. I just keep thinking about the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. And how Ed in real life, looks like he's an actual clown. If you want this to be actually successful? You have to try and keep the hear of the OP, but mix it with actually storytelling that will work in LA. I like they've been taking their time with this. Makes it feel like their giving it serious planning, instead of just trying a cash grab. The fact they have such a huge budget is also great. Luffy is the biggest thing, nail his character, and his DF, you have a chance.

Oda said the straw hats nationalities are Luffy- Brazilian Zoro- Japanese Sanji- french Nami- Sweden Ussop- south African Brooke- Australian Chopper- Canadian Franky- American Jinbe- Indian Robin- Russian So I’m pretty happy that the casting is spot on to Oda’s ideas. Oh and they haven’t started filming it yet, they’re gonna start in early 2022 in South Africa.

Do we really need this? I think thats a fundamentally wrong question. I believe adaptations are there to expand the story to other audiences. Like book to adaptations are made to give those stories to another audience, not to please the book readers fundamentally. This adaptation has the same role, not for anime fans, but the none anime fans

How do you realistically expect this to be feasible though? If they're non-anime fans then they aren't going to watch the anime even if the live-action is decent... and I have a hard time believing they'll be adapting the entirety of OP, East Blue arc at most. I just don't see the pay-off... best case it's a decent live-action of just East Blue saga but it won't get non-anime audience to watch the anime, and the anime fans are already watching the anime regardless. Worst case it turns out hot garbage and all that money wasted on a live-action literally nobody asked for.

Mackenyu❤️ his sword action in Rurouni Kenshin live action movie was absolutely brilliant!! Idk about the look but his sword acting is great suit to play Zoro. He doesn’t use stunts in the movie btw. Btw Rurouni Kenshin movie is one of the few best live adoption!! The fighting scenes and the actors’ skills are mind blowing. No stunt, no fancy CG, just pure actions. Strongly recommend to watch if you haven’t ;)

Ussop’s actor is like the closest to the actual character and Zoro’s actor is trained in martial arts etc so i think it’s a good choice. I can definitely hear Luffy’s voice from his actor but Sanji and Nami I’m not convinced yet.

As far as cast goes, I’m excited!! A lot more than I was before! Everything else, storyboard, vfx, director that’s all up in the air! Personally, I am very excited for this. One Piece in the manga and anime is already fantastic; this is just extra for me, so I really am not looking for a master-piece of a live-action. That being said, I feel like everyone's got the right energy and enthusiasm, and I'm sure their outfits will make them each fit the role more. Although Taz really does not look like Sanji to me, he seems like a nice guy that can pull off Sanji's chivalrous, polite atmosphere

Ep 1 met Alvida and Coby defeat Alvida and met Zoro Ep 2 Shanks flashback, Zoro recruited fighting Captain Morgan and defeated him Ep 3 Nami introduce.. Met Buggy, dog scene Ep 4 Fight Buggy, defeat Buggy.. Usopp introduce Ep 5 Usopp and the rich girl.. knowing the Captain Kuro plan Ep 6 Fight Black Cat Pirates defeated them and Sanji introduce Ep 7 Zeff and Sanji history, defeat Don Krieg Ep 8 Mihawk appear, defeat Zoro and Nami betrayal Ep 9 Arrive at Cocoyasi, confront Arlong Ep 10 continue the fight defeat the Arlong pirate End of Season 1. Even though Loguetown arc is the end of East Blue Saga. But character like Smoker should be introduced later on as it related to Alabasta Saga.

Oda said that if SHs were real people, Luffy would be Brazilian, Usopp African, Zoro Japanese and Sanji French. It makes even more sense if you look at it that way. BTW. Zoro actor's pretty built and did samurai movies where he did action so he's good. Oda was chosing the cast with the team BTW. He was really picky.

I found this KZbin channel called Wai Kin, and they did some videos where they use CGI to make some one piece scenes and honestly it looks amazing. So if Netflix can use as much of CGI as they can for the landscapes and characters ( that are overly tall and weird) then in my opinion it should be good. Also can you please react to some of his videos, I wanna see your opinion on it.

Well, let´s see how the live-action is realised (script etc.). But the actors look quite fitting for their roles. The next roles to be announced have to be the antagonists of the first arcs and Shanks, Mihawk, Coby, Helmeppo. Some roles I am very curious about (I know, it is early to talk about that): Kaido, Big Mom, Katakuri, the admirals and more. The personality or experience should not be a problem but surely hard to find a tall enough actor. If these characters were like 1.50 meters, it would be weird. It will surely be interesting to see how they realise Luffy´s devil fruit.

I think the casting is great! Some of the writers have been involved with Marvel projects and seem to really care for and know the source material. SoI'm cautiously optimistic! It's gonna be an adaption, so I think some aspects will be different purely because some things that work in anime won't necessarily translate well to the live action medium. If they manage to needle that delicate thread of staying faithful but making it fit for live action, I think it could be something special!

It looks like everyone are casted well, I think the greatest challenge would be Sanji's actor on how he handle acting cool without being cringe.. now the CGI on the devil fruit and Fishmen are the thing we need to worry about. There would be no problem with the ship and sea battle because the studio they used for this is the same as the studio who handled Black Sails, where they have giant swimming pools and 3 ships all ready in South Africa

The way they handled the logo scares me. It's so... serious. No light-heartedness or playfulness from it. It reminds me of something I saw years ago - if Designers redesigned anime logos - As a designer and proud weeb, I felt like it the redesign was good but it killed the soul and playfulness in the logos. If you had to extrapolate that to the show as a whole, I just don't know. We're yet to see a really good anime adaptation.

There are cosplays and edits of One piece characters that actually look very similar or close to the character like Rayleigh, Blackbeard, Robin, Shanks, Queen, Zeff and Enel etc. However, I am not convince that all characters will get a suited actors for the role, specially in the long run.
