@kimorox8137 жыл бұрын
Yes im girl with a uterus but when periods are described as a woman thing it makes me feel very unconfortable and even sad because its basically saying than my person is linked to periods/my period is linked to my person, than I am a ''periodus person'' or also than my person is directed towards periods and its just not the case. Like just because im girl it doesn't mean I am more directed or linked to periods than a guy. Saying the opposite would be dehumanizing and mysogynistic. And if feeling female means that my brain reads periods as something it is directed towards then 1. I hate my gender 2. My brain has a problem.
@1822romantic7 жыл бұрын
man=male. males do not have a uterus. woman=female, the W O in woman stems from womb and human, so a human with a womb. men/males do not have a womb therefore they cannot get a menstrual cycle. SCIENCE. however, that's not to say TRANS-men don't get periods bc they obviously do.

Matthew dog or i image a male brief style underwear would work. I'm a cis female but I would imagine the only possible problem is too wide of a gusset area ( i don't think male underwear have gussets but i hope you know what i mean) for a pad with wings too properly fit.

Rach - Unfortunately that doesn't work well. The crotch sort of hangs down in the middle to make room for, well, you know, which makes them nice and airy but not the right shape for pads to stick.
@MartynaPac7 жыл бұрын
I don't. I usually wear more tight boxers, you know, not like grandpas wear. And it fits, even better than to panties. It might be depense of the size (biger size = more space for the cock) or the style.
@sundog_017 жыл бұрын
Pyramid Seven has underwear very similar, but with trans people in mind! They're gender neutral underwear made of boxer brief-type material, but there's a little strip of (most likely cotton, or some sort of linen) fabric sewn into the crotch for pads and stuff! Because that kind of material in boxer briefs/trunks/etc doesn't stick to pads very well! They're pretty expensive for underwear, and I don't know if they do worldwide shipping, but it might be something to look into.

Last week my best friend (who is female) was listing off the people she calls dad. I was on that list because I'm dad friend. A guy we are sort of friends with (who does know I'm trans, and who had been supportive so far) said, "But she doesn't have the right equipment for that" I'm not going to be speaking to him for awhile. And my other friends have had a few conversations on ways to murder him... I'm not just ranting, I'm trying to say that people can be dicks, but there will always be someone who will have your back. You may not have that sort of person in your life right now, but don't lose hope.

If you already had come out to your friend as a trans male when they said this, then this was just plain mea and you should definitely just not talk to them unless they've given a decent apology (Even if it was just "I'm sorry I was in a really bad mood so I took it out on you and you didnt deserve that" - as long as they acknowledge they were wrong and show sorrow). However, if you haven't come out to your friend as a trans person - which is fine, do it when you're ready, or don't do it; That's your choice - it sounds like they may just be confused about why you are wearing the clothes of the other gender that they don't yet consider you to be. Of course they could've said it a lot nicer, I just mean that if you haven't taken the time to explain it to them yet, them saying this may have been stemmed from pure confusion, or frustration that stemmed from confusion. It could also be that she does care about you, but is worried that people may tease you or be mean to you, and the thought of that upsets her so much she tried to "scare" you into dressing in a different way. My point is that people have a lot of different, and not always healthy, ways of expressing their feelings. Especially feelings that make them feel scared, confused, or worried for someone they love. Again, it's your choice if you want to tell her about you being trans - *you don't owe anyone an explanation about why you are who you are* BUT at the same time, if you don't come out, but dress as a gender different from what was assigned at birth, you need to understand this may cause some people who've known you for a long while to feel confused. One more time though: If this person DID know full well that you like to be referred to as he/him, and that you feel most happy when you live as a male, then they are not a good friend and they owe you a deep apology. By the way, make sure that, if they do apologize and you accept it, you take the time to explain why you were so hurt by what was said, and what this person can change about their behavior in order to be a better, more supportive friend to you. I wish you well on your journey and I hope that you have a great life. Always try to remember that the majority of nastiness stems from someone being uneducated and ignorant, and not because they fully understand your situation and hate you. It's just fear of the unknown.

I’m a cis female, I’m a freakishly sterile and hygienic person and I have had debilitating cramps since I was 12, so I started the pill, I still take it 8 years later. I’m not trying to say I’m in the same boat, but I kinda relate more to a trans guys view on periods than most women. 😅 It doesn’t confuse me or make me mentally uncomfortable, but I just feel grimy and disgusting and like a walking red slime ball, my boyfriend literally doesn’t care so I’m not even pressured into thinking like that because of societal stuff. I totally forgot about my period once at my boyfriends, and was sitting on his couch and I was more mad and embarrassed than him by far that I left a small stain lol. I hate leaving the wrappers or opening them, the sound is just so UGHH that sometimes I will rip the pad open as I flush the toilet even in the women’s room just to combat that dreaded sound! Haha. I know it’s the most normal thing ever for any person that has female organs, cis or trans, but it just irks me so much for some reason. 😅 It just feels vile and embarrassing to deal with it in front of women instead of men actually, it may be because most cis men share the same connotations with periods. We usually both agree it’s nasty and annoying as fuck. But I found this video a lot more informative than most of the cis women reviewing these. Lots of them aren’t that honest about the gross-factor, for lack of a better word. 😄
@iThitPoulsen7 жыл бұрын
I think, considering the amount of time they lasted before you got uncomfortable, these would probably be good for a workplace situation or school where it could otherwise be awkward to have to bring something with you to the bathroom and/or if you dread that loud ass pad packaging sound when you unwrap and similarly with tampons.

They take forever to air dry, so I honestly put them in the dryer even though the instructions say not to. (I also throw them in the wash on cold water instead of washing them by hand, and honestly they are holding up fine.) I started with three pairs, and then bought several more so I can use them through my whole period by switching them out. I have a very, very heavy flow with endometriosis and whatnot and they hold everything in fine. On heavy days I'll just switch them every time I use the restroom (once or twice per day) but can wear them all day on lighter days. The damp feeling is uncomfortable but if you're fast you don't feel it. If you're at home you can also use a blow dryer to heat it up and then you won't feel the dampness because it's body temperature again.

Have you tried a menstrual cup? Because they're made of medical silicone, they will never give you toxic shock, can be left in for 12+ hours, and, at least for me, are really comfortable. If it doesn't make you too uncomfortable to wash it in the sink once or twice a day then I would highly recommend looking into them.
@andybee13817 жыл бұрын
I agree. I use the cup and I really like it. Much better than pads. However, I know a lot of trans guys don’t like tampons because they don’t like putting anything in that hole. But if a person doesn’t get dysphoria by putting something inside them, then I do recommend the cup.

Cup can give a toxic shock tho. As long as something is in contact with your parts, it has the possibility to give you a toxic shock.
@Celyia5 жыл бұрын
Really want to jump in here and say that while menstrual cups are fantastic, you can get TSS from them. There have been cases and you can validate this comment by checking the US National Library of Medicine, which is a government database of medical articles you can search online. What happens is that if the surface isn't sterilized, the blood collects on the surface of the silicone and, with contact with air and fingers, it can encourage bacteria growth as you have a pool of very bacteria-friendly liquid sitting in the vagina for long amounts of time. Now, as far as I know, the TSS cases associated with menstrual cups so far have been due to either someone leaving their cup in for far too long (as in forgetting they were using one and having left it inside for days) or, in at least one case, a person who had accidentally scratched themselves internally while learning how to put the cup in and TSS developing from that. Cups are great. I use them. Just sterilize, make sure you don't keep them in for too long, and you're set. But the myth that you can't get TSS from them is one that needs to be stopped as it actively endangers the lives of the people who use them.
@Isrjisoneavalable5 жыл бұрын
A downside to the cup is if you need to empty it in a public bathroom stall and you can’t rinse it and need to go out to wash the blood off your hands. Also the fear of dropping it!

As a young teenager who gets periods spontaneously (can be between a week somehow and 4 months), I personally use period pants the majority of the time because they're much easier and comfortable to use. When I go to school, I'll often put a pad on top but then take that off maybe halfway through the day (depending on how heavy it is) and spend the rest of it just wearing those. When my period's light, I can get away with wearing the pants for much longer, probably up to 12 hours. Bear in mind that these pants are much cheaper than the ones Jamie got (about £30 for 5 sets), I personally think they're worth it if you get it regularly. Just my opinion on period pants lol, probably didn't need to share this but here I am.

Use re-usable pads instead of store bought :) You won't feel that something is there and it is cheaper on the long term. I just made a vlog where I mentioned those actually. Though the period pants sound great actually. I might try that!

On my period as well, had to ask my mom to buy more pads for me on her way home so I don't have to wear night pads... Thanks to pills my periods aren't as heavy as they used to be so these pants would be suitable for me but I just wonder about possible health effects, since you're not supposed to wear the same pad for a whole 24 hours either I don't think. Also, pads shouldn't be scented, scented ones can irritate the pH balance of the vagina which then can cause irritation, dryness, increased risk of infections due to dryness and so forth.
@Pr0fessorScience6 жыл бұрын
You definitely shouldn't use any one item for a whole 24 hours - pad, tampon, pants, whatever. Though the potential risks from having a pad or pants on for that long are nowhere near as serious as the risks from tampons. Mostly you'd have to be concerned with some skin irritation, or maybe a mild skin infection if it's really bad. Plus, you know, smells. I use Thinx and I'm very happy with them. They don't absorb as quickly as pads is the issue, so the moisture is against your skin for slightly longer. They do dry down pretty well as long as they're not close to capacity though, so basically just like pads. And they are SO much more comfortable.

I will completely understand if you don't feel comfortable with it, but menstrual cups make you forget you are in your period, you just need to change and clean twice a day, I can't feel anything using it, but you may not like the insertion.
@Inamichan7 жыл бұрын
Thaise Athayde how do you wash it? And can you pee with it still in? Sorry about the weird questions
@thaiseathaydesantos7 жыл бұрын
imanasaurus rex you boil it before and after the period, once you are using you just wash with water and soap and put it back in. Many videos help explain how to put and remove. I can pee with it because pee is from the urethra, a different hole, since the cup is in the vagina. You can do anything you wold do in a bathroom using it.
@anassorbestiak7 жыл бұрын
Thaise Athayde i agree, the cup is amazingly comfortable! I suggest it to everyone.. But maybe a trans guy is so triggered by blood and by having to touch his vagina. It's worth a try though. I even know a girl who hates to touch her lady parts and was able to use the cup by using lattice gloves!
@thaiseathaydesantos7 жыл бұрын
Anassor Bestiak I thought about it, I guess it depends on the guy. For me the pads make me look a lot more at blood than twice a day, and is way harder to wipe, but some man may not think the cup is a problem. I understand there are a lot of issues, just talked about menstrual cups because it's one of the options, and some man may be ok with it.
@RoundSeal7 жыл бұрын
Transmasc enby here - I couldn't get through a month without my cup, I stg. Best 20 quid I ever spent on myself. Not to mention, literally all of my symptoms were reduced by at least half - less bleeding, usually no cramps now (I used to get the kind that would have me unable to move for at least a day), usually doesn't last longer than 72 hours. Once the body has had a bit of time to flush out some of the gnarly chemicals that must be in disposables, it seems like so much less of a monthly hassle. It still sucks though lol.

I would suggest the best of both worlds and go with cloth pads. Reusable, cheaper than one pair of thinx (around 5-10 per pad), there is no smell because disposable pads actually cause that "smell". You have to wash them the same way - soak and then toss in the washer, but I found it much easier to deal with than disposable. No sound as well, they use snaps. Plus they come in a variety of cool patterns - if there is a fabric that exists, you can usually get it with that. Etsy is a great place to get them.
@rosastrohhut7 жыл бұрын
MartinGiadrosich I would say Luna cup, but I unterstand that some folks do not want to insert stuff and I agree that reusable pats are a good alternative. Even on amazon by now, German company bloodmilla does them as well. You will safe money in the long run. :)
@monicawilliams43943 жыл бұрын
Instead of rinsing them I just leave them in a bucket of soapy water overnight and the next day dump the whole bucket in the washing machine. I’m lazy so I also dry them in the dryer. I use a cheaper brand and I’ve been washing and drying them this way for a year with no issues. I LOVE them!

Thinx-user tips; if you buy them in multipacks from other retailers (such as zulily) you can pay like 25% as much although you have to pay attention to sales and stuff so ymmv I've never bothered with the pre-rinse ever and have no problems. I've also been using them for ~2 years and if there's no real issue with smell even after many uses. I have soaked them in vinegar like twice because of paranoia but I don't think it was necessary. If I actually followed the wash instructions it would be even less of an issue. They can and do leak if you have very heavy flow, so for the first few times you use them be prepared to change pants at around the six hour mark the way you would with a tampon until you know for sure how they hold up to your bleeding. I genuinely don't remember what it was like having to keep of if I had menstrual products, did I have them with me, were bathrooms going to have appropriate trash, etc. Reusable products are so much easier.

*Tip for people with dysphoria for periods:* if you are on birth control already, you could ask for progesterone only pills. 9 times out of 10 it stops periods completely. *HOWEVER* only take hormone altering medication with medical supervision! Especially if you're already on T. Just putting it out there for people who aren't aware this could be an option early on.

I feel like everyone already kind of knows this but maybe some people are unaware, Cheaper period undies do not absorb blood particularly well, (sometimes not at all) however if you find a pair that has relatively comfy and you pair it with a tampon it REALLY helps you feel secure, plus if you run out of tampons you still got period undies on😊 Love to all period havers and especially people who don’t get periods it’s always good for people to be informed! Plus how could you not click on the video it’s got Jamieeeee!!!!!

this is an old video so idk if anyone's going to see it, but I big time recommend Aisle underwear, especially the boxers - from what I've read they're made out of better materials than Thinx and my experience with their website and packaging has been super gender affirming - I switched over to them from pads a year and a half ago and they are SO comfortable, they feel completely secure, and as someone who bleeds heavily (I used to have to wear giant pads and I still had to deal with leaks) I have never once had a leak with these boxers, like honestly I'm mystified

a happy medium between these and disposable pads are reusable pads! I've used them pretty much exclusively since 2015 and they're SO MUCH better, so comfortable, the ones I have are mainly cotton fabric so it just feels pretty much like undies I've got PCOS (I've bled for 2 months straight but also go 3 months with none) so I wear them all the time just in case because it's so irregular for me and it doesn't have that super uncomfortable diaper feel to where I would hate wearing them all the time I've got at least 50 now (my mom actually makes them, she makes them to donate to other countries for students who would otherwise have to stay home, that kind of thing) and I highly recommend making them yourself if possible (also I'm nonbinary)
@Angi_Mathochist3 жыл бұрын
Don't know whether you've had any need for these more recently, but if so, or if you ever have a chance to make a recommendation: LUNAPANTIES. I have them and love them. 1. I'm non-binary, and though I appear rather femme-ish on the outside, since I wear long skirts whenever I go out, underneath I haven't worn women's underwear in many, many years. I don't want "boy shorts". I want actual boxer briefs. And Lunapanties makes real period boxer briefs. Nobody else seems to, that I can find, anywhere. 2. Full disclosure: a big part of my reason for needing boxer briefs is because I have Fibromyalgia and other sensory issues, and the seams and edges on other styles actually *hurt* me. But well-fitted boxer briefs are so, so comfy! The only downside is that they are difficult to attach the cloth pads I've used for decades to. Until Lunapanties! Lunapanties have loops built in to hold pads in place for when you want additional layers (or if you prefer to change just a smaller pad rather than your whole underwear, at least until it's *really* called for). They come with one small pad per pair, iirc, but will hold any pad(s) you like. 3. These are NOT silky. They feel like cotton with some stretch -- like typical boxer briefs, really. (I know there are also silky boxer briefs, but more typical is the more cotton-y feel, and that's what these are.) I haven't worn jeans in ages, so I wouldn't personally be affected by the silk making my jeans fall down (any time soon, anyway), but I'm VERY glad my Lunapanties are not silky, because of my aforementioned sensory issues, which make silly materials very unpleasant or even painful for me. 4. Again, full disclosure: I'm actually past menopause at this point. But I gave birth 4 times, and I'm aging, as do we all, and now my bladder control is suffering the consequences. So I've graduated to using my Lunapanties for bladder control, often using old diaper service style toddler diapers as pads inside. The loops hold even these larger improvised "pads" very well, and the Lunapanties manage leaks and even gushes great. I know some companies make separate products for periods and for bladder control, but I've always found that liquid is liquid. Lunapanties are the ONLY boxer briefs on the market with any kind of built-in protection made for female bodies that I can find anywhere, anyway. It's fortunate that they do work so well, since it's not like I have a lot of choice.
