there was..... in my neck of the jersey swamp..... a return to blues-based, good old fashioned, stoned, drunk, and horny rock and roll..... bands like Raging Slab, Cry Of Love, the Crows........ in the late 80's early 90's.... and so many of those bands didnt get anywhere near enough attention..... but so glad i was there for it.....

I wandered into Wetlands one night in the late 80s with a headfull of god-knows-what and had my musical taste greatly expanded. I was aware of metal but not a big fan. RS's metal component made a lot of music that I turned my nose up at, understandable. They were and probably still are, superior musicians.

I saw this video when it was first being played on MTV. I went out the next day and bought the album on cassette tape. Back then, you could get clued into a lot of really good music from watching MTV. I discovered Guns 'N Roses the same way. That was not long before the first Gulf War. As you can imagine, I'm pretty old.

hneftafl. I first heard this band when I was attending the Air Force Military Police Academy in San Antonio , Texas . I was a US Navy petty officer with four years in service at the time . Another petty officer in my class turned me on to this band .

I didn't have MTV (we were too poor - I was literally the only kid at school who didn't have cable) so it was more difficult for me to discover new music. I started leafing thru music magazines at the library and shops and had to judge if an act were good or not by the photos - even more shallow than videos!

The lead singer as far as his appearance goes looks like a member of one of those 70's southern rock bands with the hat and the clothing that he is wearing and even the guitar which looks to be a Gibson firebird. these guys really are in a style of their own shame that they never got big.

Wow, this still sounds great after all these years. I remember the first time I saw them, at Danceteria in NYC. They had just started playing as a group, and a good friend of mine at the time was the bass player. They were certainly not the sort of band that typically played that club, but I thought they were terrific. I especially remember that the drummer talked a lot between songs, to the point where I said to myself, “This guy needs to start his own band.” It’s ironic that both the 2nd guitarist (Dimitri) and the drummer (Kory) became more succesful after they left RS (Deee-Lite and Warrior Soul, respectively).
