I can't help but feel that referring to this film as a "lesbian movie" isn't quite doing it justice. It's more than that, it's a tragic love story. It sort of bothers me that love stories about gay or lesbian characters seem to be classified into their own genre. A love story is a love story is a love story as far as I'm concerned, and a beautifully done love story is great, no matter what the gender of the characters is.

Lilly Wust was a very brave woman. She was in the Berlin Reich Security Main Office every day after Felice was arrested. Every day for several hours she insisted on knowing where Felice had been taken. At some point she was given the information, but then she did the unbelievable, she took the train to the concentration camp and asked to be let in because she wanted to see Felice. Unfortunately, her persistence was unsuccessful, although she stood in front of the main gate of the concentration camp every day for several days and asked to be let in to see Felice. I call that true love because her actions could have put her life in danger. Only true love makes you forget that and try to overcome all obstacles to see the one you love again. She was braver than a soldier because the men she faced were all armed, her only weapon being her love for Felice

@@oldmoviemusic The saddest thing is that Felice died on the death marches in 1945. In January and February 1945, all concentration camps in the East were evacuated. The prisoners had to walk without proper winter clothes and shoes. It was incredibly cold and there was a lot of snow. The prisoners were already weakened, often being used for experiments or being forced to work until they dropped without adequate food to keep them strong. In the concentration camps, people lived in unheated wooden barracks and had to sleep on wooden beds, instead of mattresses they had to lie on hard wood. Those who could no longer walk on the death marches were shot to death. It is certain that Felice died on one of these death marches. Her body was never found because it was probably eaten by wolves or ravens. When Lilly Wust died, she was symbolically buried together with Felice Schragenheim. Both names Lilly Wust and Felice Schragenheim are on the tombstone. By the way, Lilly Wust played herself as an old woman.

I know right?! this is not just a lesbian love story set during WW2, it's a movie that tells the story of a group of people during the war, and it's just focusing on one of the many heartbreaking stories that happened in that time. there's so much more going on than just lesbian love - it's also about living every moment of your life, about living on after tragedy, about courage, about friendship and about standing up. it's just perfect :)

This song has been playing in my mind for soooo long, it kept coming back to me and I never remembered what it was and where I knew it from. Until I re-watched Aimee & Jaguar recently almost 20 years after I first saw it. Speaks for the song that it stuck with me for such a long time. I'm so glad I finally found it.

This music represent to me just like the movie that life and specially at that time, can be really tough and horrible but if you don't think about what's gonna happen tomorrow and live life by the moment and by the positive side, no matter how hard your life has been, nobody and less yourself could say it's been a tragedy, but actually the opposite, because like they say "you only truly live when you're about to loose everything anytime".

+SLYSPYHIWAY90 The book is so touching and so frightening. It has so much to tell, much more than the film. The film itself, well, changed names - God knows why? - changed facts, added facts. Apart from names of both main characters everything else has been changed. So big opportunity wasted. A real shame.

I'm not sure of it's intent but usually movies are loosely based on a true story or a authors book. I'm sorry you were disappointed. Remember if it's not a documentary it's show business.

I think the movie must be regarded as an addition to the original story, so I don't consider it "crap" at all. I think the book and the movie serve different purposes and I actually like the approach of the movie better. To be honest, I didn't find the book that well written (except for the beautiful letters they wrote to each other, but this doesn't count since it is pre-existing material and does not come from the author herself)... The book remains interesting for the facts and testimonies, and I would still recommand to know the original story, as a part of the "lesbian heritage", but from an artistic point of view, that's not the best literary production on earth if you ask me, not to mention some very cringe-making comments from the author. The movie is more respectful in my opinion, although clearly fictionalized, but I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing. I find it beautiful just the way it is.
