You are truly one of the coolest people of your generation. I came to you by way of Rhymesayers, but have spent years moving out of a conservative mindset into a focus of love, and your interviews are so important. I hope you can continue to gain a recognition in all of your endeavors, the world certainly needs it.

Brother Ali, thank you for sharing this amazing conversation! Like you, Ms. Jane Elliott was the first the person I saw that looked like me and felt the way I did about the skin colors of the people of the world. I have learned so much from both of your journeys. Thank you for being my inspiration.

She right about having the connection to Africa, took an ancestry test and I don't know how accurate it was but seeing that one percent of my DNA came from Senegal I was stunned but not in a negative way just made me curious. Since I'm Mexican we are made to believe one thing, but at the end we all come from the same tree so listening to this podcast really enlightened me so shout out to Mrs. Elliott and Brother Ali as well as his crew keep doing y'all's thing.

This way she’s on your case about things, even as you try to pray for her, makes me remember and appreciate the same traits in some hard nut educators I’ve known. I’d be blessed to be the same if I get to be an octogenarian. Fierce as you are, you look tame beside her. To me you aren’t just an educator about racial justice but also Islam. I struggle with establishing prayer and fast on the path to conversion. Because of covid a distanced lover could not help, then fell away in a crisis of faith and from me and is on another path. In my circumstances, as a trans nb, that was a rare opportunity to try to learn in a room with others. I’ve tried more than once. So I do a bit less than my best on my own, can’t understand many conflicting online resources, and flail. I believe it’s not just me and there are more potential flailing converts attracted to your art who could learn simple things from it you did as a teenager and hopefully establish prayer and fast. I share this so you might know us, your audience a little better. What you do as an educator is amazing. Ramadan kareem brother.

I have such admiration for Jane Elliott, and as always you. It's so refreshing to hear that others in this World have similar hero's, idol's and soruces of inspiration. After moving back to the USA at age 12, when my father was stationed in the D.C. area. The Autobiography of Malcom X, Wutang-Clan, Maya Angelou, the Auntie's, Nanna's, Pops and so many more POC whom were the same auntie's etc of my dearest and closest friends. Despite all of this, the choosing of time, place, and opportunity of when I should or should not speak up, because I am melanemic. The most frustrating moment in recent memory was while I was attending University. There was diversity in the course, but not much. The Professor is Melanatious, and this beautiful Melanotic woman in the front row, whom I had only met a few days prior, had spent nearly 30 minutes trying to explain to a younger melanemic Veteran who was trying to justify why "White' privelage, and racism don't exist because he grew up in poverty where melanemic families were the minority in the community he lived, and because he does not see color. I finally had to intercede. I said, "Do you realise that when you say that you do not see color, and when you use your families poverty and experiences to justify the ridiculous claim that there is no racism in America. You are saying to POC that not only do you not see/acknowledge them and other like them, you also do not acknowledge or accept the struggles they have and are going through." He was taken aback, and immediatly apologized and was starting to backpedal and rephrase his points. I cut him off saying, "The worst part is that you just apologized, implying that you understand how ignorant you were being. The fact that these two individuals have been telling you exactly what I said to you and you didn't hear it until I said it, well that disappoints me as it likely suggests your apology was not only insincere, it also implies that you were straight up ignoring them because they are POC, whom your flawed perspective to not see color is also why you weren't listening." I try my best to choose wisely and educate only my melanemic peers, as irregardless of my experiences or witnessing the experiences of those whom I love who are POC does not afford me any right to take place on the soap box of the agenda and fight that they may choose to utilize. I will stand next to behind etc, and pray that one day my voice will not need to be the voice heard for another to change. -JBM-

The religion of Islam is strong and does not accept regionalism and discrimination. Only he who can overcome himself, understand this time, understand the enemy and fear God, will be of the best of creation, of course, after Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
