Actress and activist Jane Fonda made headlines round the world last year when she was pictured getting arrested for the fifth time during protests in Washington DC, during a weekly initiative she spearheaded called Fire Drill Fridays, in which she campaigned on Capitol Hill to bring attention to the climate crisis we're facing and fight for a more sustainable future. And she didn't do it alone; every Friday for four months she was joined by a crowd of scientists and supporters, plus a handful of celebrity friends who happily risked getting arrested by her side - including Ted Danson, Brooklyn Decker, Robert Downey Jr and Rosanna Arquette.
"I want to be able to get to the end of my life and feel that I've done my best," Jane Fonda tells us. "What motivates me to keep going as an activist is because of what's at stake. Whether there's a future that is worth living in, is at stake. And if that's not a motivation I don't know what is. I don't give up and become disengaged because I want to be able to sleep."

Thank you Jane. I have quit driving, flying, and riding my bicycle (still need fossil fuels to build them, especially with carbon fiber frames). It's a good thing I enjoy walking, lol. I try to eat mostly locally grown food, and also whenever possible, eat it raw. Once my clothing made from synthetics wear out, I will only wear clothing make from pure wool or cotton. I'm not sure if I should continue using electricity to cook, or cook over a dung fire. Anyway, thanks again for all the sacrifices you are making.

I like Jane Fonda, but the issue isnt JUST fossil fuels it is cleaning up our soils of all artifical fertilisers - do that and the soil is able to deal with CO2 levels 6 times over (see the work of Dr Zach Bush and other scientists)

Is a person only their appearance? If you go to a salon to get your hair cut, are you losing a bit of yourself?

@@tibb75 A person is not 'only their appearance', but their appearance is a large part of who they are, especially Entertainers. Just like if someone was burnt to the point of being unrecognizable in a fire. They are still the same person on the inside but not on the outside. A hairstyle will grow out but these women have changed permanently and I maintain that on the surface, they are no longer the people we once knew and it makes me sad to look at them.
