This scene has so many undertones . I felt Lisbon held herself together very well especially from season 5 because her feelings for Jane were slowly undergoing change ; her character never showed any desperation for love . She was serious about the relationship but she was fiercely independent . She truly was inspirational in the series ; always subtly so much powerful and righteous ; I think that's the reason why Jane's character is not only attracted to her but depends on her . Erica & Lorelei [even Fischer potentially] only attracted Patrick at physical level ; his emotions were all over where Lisbon is concerned . His home was Lisbon . Can't believe commenting in 2021 ; I watched this series in quarantine :P

Lorelei was a fling. Lorelei was like Mashburn to Lisbon. He was lonely, and took need it that to happened. But he also feel pity for her, because he could see she was full of contradictory emotions. But in the scene when he saw Lisbon in the Church, he seems to know all along that Lorelei was RJ's disiple, and he was playing the game. He didn't care for her, if he cared for her, he wouldn't helped escape and get to RJ. He knew RJ could kill her. But his revenge was bigger than whatever he felt for her. When Lisbon is danger to get close to RJ he always tried to protected her. Even he tried to protected that FBI Angent from RJ better than he did for Lorelei.

He didn’t get with her because he was lonely, you’re right when you say it was a play. But still, once he turned her, he started to care about her I think. He didn’t protect her because he just couldn’t, she was too wild and rejected him because she couldn’t stand the idea of being used again

I think he felt empathy for her, and some physical attraction, but the idea of a real romance is an absolutely absurd notion. RJ sent Lorelei to seduce Jane because she resembled Lisbon, and Jane played up his nihilist breakdown facade and seduced *her* to get to RJ. As soon as she left his hotel room he smiled grimly to himself--no fear, no confusion--he knew the whole time. He kisses her robotically when she made it a demand to gain her cooperation, and she kissed him when she left to hunt RJ, and he practically pushes himself away from her. He looked at her the way he looked after he kissed Erica: like someone who chugged a pint of milk they just realized was spoiled. God, the nauseating fawning I've seen people have over Erica and Lorelei--these nasty murderous pigs, Erica sneering at the man who she thought had died for her sake, Lorelei choosing Jane's ring finger to chop off because his beloved wife's memory was there, And Jane, who to his credit saw the human inside Lorelei, still let her go to potentially return RJ, who ended up butchering her. Even agent Darcy got more consideration from him than that when it came to keeping her safe from RJ. Lindsay Smith would have made a decent recurring femme fatale, Erica and Lorelei were trash.

@@tabithaprovan957 yeah I totally agree on every count; also, when Jane actually admits to Lisbon he had some feelings for Lorelei I think it was just his desire to save her/save her soul, to convince her that RJ had been playing her all along and get her to do the right thing by revealing him who RJ was. Of course he was also physically attracted to her (I like to think, as you said, he was because she looked like Lisbon ;-) but when she died he had a merciless, cold reaction, he said something like "She had it coming" or something... we know that Jane can be cruel and heartless sometimes, but if he truly had developed feelings for her, I think his reaction would have been different.

aws Jane his poor little face when he tells her what happened 💔🥺🥺 ..I never understood why Lisbon asks her again about Lorelei if she knows very well what happened between them, even at that moment Lisbon told Jane something like that she understood that Lorelei was important to him because she was the first one he had anything with after his wife and he told her he wasn't in love with her, etc.. that was when they were talking in the car back then. 💁 I mean, I understand the talk and those curiosities because she loves him, but whoever with Jane has been before, she shouldn't care, just like she was with Walter... because they weren't a couple when they both had their respective relationships. 💁 Jane didn't mention anything about his adventures because he's also a gentleman, real men don't talk about other women they've been with, and that's not lying or hiding, it's just being reserved and respectful. Lisbon didn't like to talk about her private life, she never told him about her first love Greg and she didn't want to talk about Walter here either.. when Jane asks her about Walter, she then realized how uncomfortable it is to talk about a past that no longer matters in the present.

I have no clue why some people go to bat for Lorelai or Erica as love interests. Both of them were repulsive human beings that appealed to the chaotic, egotistical side of Jane's personality. His involvement with them was half mercenary, half infatuation, and both elements degraded him. They may have been sexy as hell, and in moments even pitiable and empathetic, but you might as well pair a drowning man with a barrel of toxic waste. Neither woman qualified as a Selina Kyle or Irene Adler--they were both too far gone.

I think it is the chemistry between the actors that seemed awkward in many many times. Simon Baker is a great actor and perfect for the role. I can't declare the same for Robin Tunney who might be good but not the best fit for the role or for matching Baker's performance.

@@smyt-nt150 In my opinion they had great chemistry while they were partners who occasionally flirt and tease each other, and yes Simon acting skills are far better then hers, I mean she is great really great actor but he is better or this kind of role is something he is better in playing then her.And when they got together for me personally it was awkward to watch them but she seemed more comfortable in those more intimate scenes,playing girlfriend, kissing him etc in that scenes she acted better,but his character had more depth and it was more complex and he did a great job,emotional, melancholy scenes were something he was great,and I think he was perfect for the role of Mentalist and just that, I don't think he was for romance when it comes to Jane,at least that is how it looks to me,but I could be 100% wrong,and if in next 10 or 20 years someone decides to do remake of the Mentalist I am sure no one will play that role better then Simon,he was perfect and to find someone will do with character what he did will be hard.

Looks like this is Erica's fake account 😂 This is exactly what Erica told Jane that the relationship between jane& teressa won't last long& she (erica) is the best match for him! The thing is, the chemistry between Jane & Teressa is chemistry of very different things, not similar character traits. Jane is attracted to Teressa because she was good to him since the beginning ( watch season five episode 5- i guess- where how he become a CBI consultant was shown). He's attracted to her because she's strong, even after knowing all his mischiefs, the problems that he creates for her, she still tolerates him, a kind heart& so on. On the other hand, she's attracted to him because he's highly intelligent, his pursuit of red John to take revenge for his wife & kid shows as a man how much he's involved in a relationship & how much he love his family while he could simply move on& get another life with some other beautiful women & so on. They're attracted bcz of totally different reasons & that's what you don't understand, just like Erica!
