Simply perfect. I loved this song as a child, heard it again 30 years ago, and kept looking on KZbin, but never thinking I would actually find it! Thank you for posting it. Another one of the forgotten songs of the era. Miss Morgans is flawless.

This is by French singer-songwriter Gilbert Bécaud. My favorite song of his is "Mes Mains". He also wrote an opera (L'Opéra d'Aran") that ran for 100 performances in Paris, a Christmas cantata ("L'Enfant à l'étoile), on which he is, by contract, the principal soloist, and the big song from the remake of "The Jazz Singer".

Jane Morgan never got her due. She had one of the greatest voices ever. She was also a flawless and very poised performer, to say nothing of her beauty. An all- around triple threat.

Great song from when I was a kid of 11. Still love it now. This and many others from that era. Connie Francis, Bing, Michael Holliday, Nat King, and even Jimmy Young, etc. etc. Not forgetting Ricky Nelson and Elvis of course. Col.

One of the most overlooked singers of the time of really true singers. She could hold her own with the best of them. I have always loved this song to bad no one does these anymore. I always feel sorry for the kids today who have never heard real music.

This was my favorite of Jane Morgan's songs, although I loved many of them. Her voice is so strong, clear, true, full and beautiful. Beautiful phrasing also. Sang this song daily for years - but always hear her voice in my head and heart.

Jane Morgan was born into a musical family in Massachusetts and her mother, thinking Jane would pursue a career in opera, taught her French and Italian. After graduating Julliard, she performed for years in France with a society orchestra and perfected her French. This song, composed in France and titled "Le Jour Ou La Pluie Viendra," was a hit in France before Morgan sang it in English in the US, where it was a major hit again. I recommend listening to Morgan's French version of this song, which can be found here on KZbin. Her accent and diction are flawless. She was a remarkable talent.

"The day that the rains came down2 Mother Earth smiled again Now the lilacs could bloom Now the fields could grow greener The fday that the rains came down Buds were born, love was born As the young buds will grow So our young love will grow Love, sweet love A robin sang a song of love A willow tree reached up to the heavens Asif to thank the sky above For all that rain, that welcome rain We looked across the meadowland And seemed to sense a kind of a miracle Much too deep to understand And there we were, so much in love The day that the rains came down Mountain streams swelled with pride Gone the dry river bed Gone the dust from the valley The day that the rains came down Buds were born, love was born As the young buds will grow So our young love will grow Love, sweet love Rain, sweet rain
