Carol Connors ( the singer) said in an interview once, that during rehearsals her voice cracked when trying to hit the high note mid way through the track. Phil Spector, who wrote this song and was in the band ( guy on the right) shoved her up against a wall and told her that she better not f..k up his song. That's why just, before she hits the high note, she looks down and is stressing about getting it right 1:40. Ahh the good ole days when people were motivated by the "stick" ...lol

Also, the guitarist on the right, the one who was singing ba-da-da da-da-da as a backup voice, was none other than Phil Spector, who later became one of the foremost rock-n-roll producers in the industry. Beautiful song, always has been. I am 72yrs young, but , it is so funny, because, for as long as I can remember, somehow, I thought it was about my Love for "JESUS" so weird! but true. Most of the words in this song, STILL makes me feel the same. Thank you!!

Her voice sounds exactly like my mother's; so clear, pure, powerful, yet soft and gentle at the same time, and angelic. My mom always sang to me, when I was a baby, and a young child. It was so beautiful and comforting. I miss her. She passed away, a few years ago, just after my 30th birthday.🤍

I was a young, almost teenager back then...I can tell you, women back then were not afraid to be feminine, sweet, yet retain their powerful charismatic sway over men!..Such meaningful simplicity in those kinds of tunes...and actually being able to temporarily hold a young lady in your arms, while dancing at a sock hop, was a thrill!
